24.01.2022 Zap! There goes another week! The Little Dog supervised me when the fog came rolling in. He was fine with it. I was a little spooked, but I'm ok now. The skies find themselves in an autumn rush forward the glorious. If you like these pics, you'd have fallen over backwards had you seen them in their full glory. Not bad, really because at least 3 or 4 days were grey. That's a pretty good average. No pics, but our naughty little bovine granddaughter, Jaffa found a secret gap i...n the fence and was found loitering near apple trees. There are very few windfalls on the ground now, she's taken them all! Our little kitties have been a bit sookie and I attempted a cat beard. I came close, but no. Little Molly found every shaft of sunlight on offer. It's one of her core skills. The moon phased thru full this week. It challenged the capabilities of my phone, and like the skies, the glory of reality is poorly matched by the pics. I tried. Time for a better phone, perhaps. Until next week, lovely humans. Be well, be safe and be kind. See more

22.01.2022 Evandale turned on some pretty spectacular skies this morning. Is that why Mary looks so insane today? Probably not, we're pretty certain that her condition isn't even remotely transitory. Plenty of vendors have ventured out today, so there's plenty to see and buy. Get out amongst it!

21.01.2022 It's a lemon emergency! Well, not so much an emergency, more of an inconvenience. If any of our local Tassie friends have a tree with fruit, we'd love to take some off your hands! Contact us here or on our website hawthornehillfarm.com.au Cheers!

21.01.2022 We've almost found a little breathing space as we feel the warmth of the summer's promise and the days begin to stride out into the growing twilight. Those that have been eagerly awaiting Mary's puddings and cookies are about to have their patience rewarded. She's been on a baking rampage and has given the nod to me posting them for sale on the website. I need to take a couple of pics, then I'll get them up and make a post to let you know. The skies have been showing off aga...in this week. We just can't get enough of that view! I had supervision in the packing room this week. The Little Blue Kitty found that, even though the stock was stacked high, it was stable enough to not pose a hazard. Have a great week, be safe, be kind, lovely humans. . . . . . . . . . #tassiefarmlife #lovelivinghere #bigskies #farmlove #farmlife #tassiefood #instatassie #tassiemade #tassiefoodie #grassfed #tasmania #tasmaniamade #instatasmania #tasmaniafood #tasmanianproduce #tasmanialife See more

19.01.2022 Back in stock! At last! The stonefruit season is looking good this year and we've FINALLY been able to source some fantastic cherries. The plums have come from one of our trees at The Farm and the colour is AMAZING! The pic doesn't really do justice to it, but you can kinda get the idea. So now, our full range is available once again. I've yet to update the stock on our website (soz, my bad) but I'll do that tonight and make another post when they're available. In the meanwhile, come down to Evandale and say g'day. There are lots of great vendors out today with lots to see and buy. Get out amongst it!

19.01.2022 Kicking off Niche Market Bazaar in Lonny's beautiful Albert Hall. So many fantastic Tassie makers have their wares on show. We're here til 3pm. Come along and check it all out!

18.01.2022 It was so dark this morning! It seemed that it took ages for the sun to show itself. That'll all change next week, with the end of daylight savings just around the corner. We're a bit tired after yesterday's shenanigans at Albert Hall for Niche Market Bazaar. So much so that I'm recycling Mary's pic from yesterday. It's looking like a beautiful day and there are heaps of vendors about with lots of good gear. You really should get out amongst it! .... . . . . . . . . . #marketlife #tasmaniamademarket #markets #marketstalls #farmersmarkets #marketshopping #weekendmarkets #tassiemarkets #tasmanianmarkets #evandale #evandalemarkets #evandalesundaymarkets See more

17.01.2022 A chock filled week has seen us keep up with our regular commitments, as well as prepare and attend another Niche Market Bazaar, to benefit St Giles and help provide disability support services. They do really important work with grace and kindness and really deserve support. The bovine children have been a bit saucy this week and have found new ways to escape and eat apples. We found Jaffa in the driveway upon our return to the homestead last night. she was a good girl and... went back in quietly and quickly. The skies have been pretty special at both ends of the day. We've had a big shower early Saturday morning with accompanying thunder. Nothing like our poor mainland mates all up along the east coast, but enough to make our gutters overflow. We have a slightly quieter week ahead. I might even get some sleep! Until next week, lovely humans. Be well, be safe and be kind. . . . . . . . . . . #tassiefarmlife #lovelivinghere #bigskies #farmlove #farmlife #tassiefood #instatassie #tassiemade #cows #tractorlife #tassiefoodie #grassfed #tasmania #tasmaniamade #instatasmania #tasmaniafood #tasmanianproduce #tasmanialife See more

17.01.2022 There's good news for anyone desperate for some of Mary's baked goodness. She's made good progress in the kitchen this week and the next batch of puddings and cookies have made it into the world and are on offer today at the Evandale Sunday Markets. They'll be going live on our website early in the new week and I'll be sure to post when they're available. They'll be very limited, so get in early! The markets are in full swing and there are lots of fantastic vendors with wares on offer. Get out amongst it!

09.01.2022 Sorry we're so late posting about the markets. We had a breakdown on the way in this morning and have been playing catch up ever since. Mary looks happier than she should, given the start we had. My expression speaks volumes... Umm... we're here. You should be too.

09.01.2022 The festive week came and went in a flash! The Little Dog has returned to the beach in triumph! He loved his first beach walk of the season and had begun hinting that we should go back more often. I'm inclined to agree, it's always fun and it makes him sooo happy. Our bovine girls are having a fun time too. The grass is growing at a pace and they're taking full advantage and putting on good condition. Little Pepper came up close to say hello and to show me that she's not so... little any more. There were skies, of course. When is there not? They just keep showing off to me and I just keep on taking pics... We celebrated Christmas with friends on the front lawn of the homestead and had a marvellous time of it. We'll celebrate the new year in similar style this week. I was given an early Christmas present last Sunday by one of our market mates. I chose the lovely tombola that you see here, from a dish full of them. I could be Marble King if I took this bad boy out in earnest. From our family to yours, we hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and we wish you all the best for the coming new year. Until next year, lovely humans. Be kind and stay safe. See more

09.01.2022 Oh, lordy, lordy! The skies! It's almost more than this clunky old heart can take! It's all about the skies this week. The shelves were looking pretty bare in The Jam Room (so named for it's masses of preserved fruit, not for the assemblage of musicians), so, The Boss and The Girls got stuck in and made a stack of jam. That led to a labelling crisis that was averted by Mary and I staying up past our bedtime to wrangle labels. It wasn't quite finished at 3am, but we decided th...at enough was enough. St Giles held a Niche Market Bazaar at Albert Hall on Saturday and we were in attendance once again. If you get the chance to get along to a Niche, please do so. Firstly, there are stacks of great Tassie artisans showing off their wares, but most importantly, 20% of sales goes directly to St Giles to support their provision of childhood disability support services in our community. The days are noticeably longer and warmer, though the nights are still cold. Spring is a fantastic time of year in Tassie and on the farm. That's the thing about Tassie though, isn't it? Even when it's awful, it's still beautiful. Such a special part of the world. Until next week, lovely humans. Stay safe and be kind. See more

09.01.2022 We're at the Evandale Sunday Markets again and it's the only show in town! Did you know that we reduce our prices for the markets? Our 250g range are $8, across the range, including our marmalades and lemon varieties. That's up to $1 off our online prices. Evandale had been good to us and it's where it all began for us, so we'll always do our cheapest price for our Evandale mates. There are quite a few vendors in attendance and the weather is holding for now. Get out amongst it!

07.01.2022 As the days stretch out and the soil warms, the grass is surging and lovely buds make promises about something sweet that's in the making. I'm obsessed with the skies, they keep distracting me and I'm glad for the distraction. Cricket visited, just to see if dogs are still welcome. She went home satisfied that we are doing our bit. Barb is feeling a bit slinky after her trim. They say that the difference between a bad haircut and a good one is two weeks. She and her sisters have begun to eat from an offered bucket, which ous big progress from a skittish gaggle of girls. Hank needed a visit from the vet, having injured his foot somehow. A couple of jabs and he's all good again, thankfully. Until next week, be safe and kind, lovely humans.

04.01.2022 Allow me to present The Woman Behind the Jam, Mary Henderson, in her secondary habitat. She's most at home when cooking a metric tonne of jam, but does quite well in a market environment. Note the beautiful plumage, which is really at it's finest during the springtime. It's a really beautiful day and there are lots of vendors with some fantastic wares on display. Best you get out amongst it!

04.01.2022 She's in her natural habitat again! Mary always has a beautiful smile, but she's trotted out her best Christmas grin for St Giles' Nichemas at Lonny's iconic Albert Hall! Mary's been furiously baking for what seems like an eternity and she's brought her famous Keto Christmas Puddings and her new Sugar Free cookies (raspberry or lemon). Of course, the range of Sugar Free jams is on offer too. There are lots of fantastic Tassie artisans displaying their wares. Come along and pick up a unique gift to make someone's Christmas special.

03.01.2022 I've run out of time this week, so... have a photo from earlier this week. Nibby and Mary joined me for a lovely walk a few days back. Much love, beautiful humans.

01.01.2022 And yet another high velocity week has come and gone, and I've documented some of it... Our arrival back at the homestead last Sunday was accompanied by the surprise arrival of a couple of big round bales of hay. The girls were very pleased. Surprise hay is their favourite kind. Our skies showed off again and made us do one of these Well, actually a few, ok, lots. The little maple near the cattle yards is just about back to being fully covered in foliage. Our lit...tle yellow tractor has been seen lurking nearby. Hank will be pleased, he loves a maple leaf as a snack, almost as much as he loves roses. We've been posting about a giveaway that's being arranged by Wip Creatives, for Sydney locals. Today's post is the last, tomorrow the winners will be announced. If that's been clogging your feed, first, sorry and second, it's over. Thanks for tagging your Sydney mates. Lastly, here's a sneak peek at Mary's now famous Keto Christmas Pudding. They shipped out to Low Carb Emporium this week and we'll also be putting them up on our website later in the coming week. They'll be very limited, so keep an out for a post and get in quick, they'll not last long. Until next week, lovely humans.
