25.01.2022 Hi everyone, I was in my school newsletter today receiving my runner up certificate for the Community Services Award as part of the Tea Tree Gully Youth Achievement Awards. I was also in the Tea Tree Gully Council Grapevine (Spring Edition) that came out this week. The article discusses interactive storytelling sessions, I have delivered, which are designed for primary school-aged children. I have had great support from the Council’s Youth Development Team who are awesom...e! I really enjoy working with schools and students. Hope you can check out the story which is on page 13. Thanks Hayley https://www.teatreegully.sa.gov.au//Newsletter_-_Gully_Gra

20.01.2022 Hi Everyone, last Wednesday (via Zoom), I was one of the guest presenters for ‘Library Through the Lens: Awesome ends in ME Say NO to Bullying.’ I just wanted to share Emma’s presentation. The 9 minute video by Emma (from Marion Library), discusses some great apps that can help kids cope, if they are experiencing bullying. One of my favourite apps was the Worry App - good for those of us who worry about worry. Awesome work Emma!

18.01.2022 Hi everyone, it was so nice to be featured by SPELD SA as part of Dyslexia Awareness Month in the ‘Author Spotlight.’ As you can imagine, I am very proud of ‘Something A Little Different’ and just delighted it was shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Australia book of the year in the 8-10 age category. SPELD SA do great work and I’m hoping to catch up with Sandy Russo from SPELD SA on ‘Chilling with Hayley’ soon. Dyslexia can be so frustrating for students and adults and a ...little support can go a long way. I look back knowing how hard it was only a few years ago, but now it feels like dyslexia is something I can manage better. The SPELD SA website has some great resources for students & adults https://speld-sa.org.au I am proud to have Sandy Russo & SPELD SA be part of my journey. Thanks, Hayley

If you have any ideas about this and potential topics such as dyslexia, art, kindness, inclusion, wellness and the local community, I would love to hear from you! https://spark.adobe.com/video/gO1oqsi4IcBaf https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-225jg-dc2694

08.01.2022 Hi everyone, as of midnight 18 November 2020, South Australia will go into lockdown due to the Coronavirus outbreak in the State. I found out today, after my science exam and I think we were all a little shocked. It is going to be a strange time as we will all be basically housebound; we will not even be able to go out to exercise. I hope everyone in South Australia is going ok we’ll get through this together. The hardest part of today at school was we really didn’t hav...e a chance to say goodbye properly to our friends who are leaving the school - as we expected to say farewell on Friday. It was also a very quick goodbye to our wonderful supportive teachers until 2021. I am also thinking about the people who will not be able to celebrate their year 12 graduations so sad for you but be proud of the hard work and your achievements in this crazy year. The good news is we have technology like Zoom and social media to help us through. I will have some things to share with you over the coming days. I hope everyone stays safe in South Australia, staying positive I would just love to know what you are looking forward to doing in lockdown. Have a good night and look after each other.

02.01.2022 Hi everyone, what a great few days of sparkling spring weather. Yesterday, I got to hang out with a friend and a heap of friendly dogs in the park for a fundraiser. What a brilliant and well organised day it was! I really enjoy working with primary schools and I will share with you some of the fun we had recently visiting a school for storytelling and art and craft activities. Friday 5 November is the ‘Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards.’ Lauren (the illustrat...or of the book) and I are waiting to see how the book goes in the 8-10 age year old category. It has been a big thrill to be shortlisted for this award, and I will let you know who the winners after they are announced. You will find some libraries will have some of the books, or in some cases, all the shortlisted books available to read. If you have not read ‘Something A Little Different’ you can borrow it from the library on the ‘One Card Network.’ Have a great week everyone! Hayley

01.01.2022 Hi everyone, I had the great privilege of visiting Ridgehaven School Primary School on 21 September 2020. I had a great time with Carly from the Tea Tree Gully Youth Program as we did art & crafts with the class after I read my story to the students. The class were given cupboard cuts outs of people which they decorated themselves. They then wrote what was unique about themselves. ... Thank you so much Ridgehaven Primary for having me and Carly!
