21.01.2022 {late afternoon studio pottering thoughts, as I put together dreaming bundles} When your friend gets sick, really really sick, and you learn that the doctors are saying shitty things about life expectancy and treatments and all that that entails, your mind can go into overdrive. Ever since I got that phone call, I've been asking myself- what can you do, how can you help, who can you enlist to help, what can you make, what prayers can you say, what does she need, who does she ...need, why her, that could be me, what would I do, what should I do now, how much should I call, should I bother her, does she need anything....all the rumbling thoughts infiltrating all your quiet moments and leading you to sit with what it means to be human, what it means to exist, what it means to have friends, what it means to be a mother, a partner, a sister, a daughter. Ever since my friend got sick I've been constantly in touch with how I want to be as a human and what is important to me. It's funny, you know, how none of us have a certain future, none of us know what is going to happen tomorrow; but when you are faced with the unfathomable, the unspeakable- through association with another human you are connected to- all the silly things don't matter and you realise only one thing does. And that thing is Love. I've never really told my friends I love them, but this past year I have. All the time. I have learnt that if you love somebody, you gotta say it out loud. You gotta tell the people that matter that you love them. No matter how awkward it can be. And they don't have to say it back (but you'll learn they always do), you just have to say I Love You. My friend, I love you. You are magic and it'll all be ok and if it's not, then that's ok too because you are loved, you are love. I love you x See more
21.01.2022 This is the only real way I know how to change the world. I support the marches but I won't attend as it means driving my diesel filled car hundreds of kilometres. I support those that are coming up with new and innovative ways to tackle plastic pollution, but I'm not willing to attend university to learn how to engineer these solutions. I support the hemp industry wholeheartedly but I can't grow it here due to our backward laws. I support those that are bringing together com...munities through volunteer action and support but I haven't quite figured out what it is I have to say. I hold space for all the humans in the world trying to do good, to do better, because now they know better. And I understand that each individual action matters, no matter what it looks like, because our energy flows out in a ripple effect. I know that I understand my garden. I know I am good at growing food for our family organically and without the use of a massive amount of resources. I know that I'm good at sharing the process, I know I'm good at taking beautiful photos, and I know I'm good at chatting with those that want to know more. I watched my daughter pick our dinner with her friend tonight, explaining all the different flowers you can eat, what leaves are good for salads, which ones are better cooked than raw, and I felt this deep inner knowing, that right now, I'm helping. Right now, with what I have and what I know, I am helping to change this world. Its not a big grand petition, its not going to turn heads or make me a household name, but it's starting a conversation with each and every person that comes to visit. Growing my own food, tending to the soil, and sharing what that looks like with whomever will listen... this is what I can do, today. I love this planet, I know we are all just trying to do our best. We have to model for our children a way in which this beautiful earth can be tended to with love and gratitude, and ease. We've got to do what we can with what we have. #hippiestonehome #gaia
