21.01.2022 I had an amazing day yesterday at the Creative Kids Tales Festival. #cktfest2019. Georgie Donaghey did a terrific job of organising the festival with guest speakers who are at the top of the children’s literature industry. Jackie French spoke on How to Begin the Journey, How to keep going, and How to Be an Overnight Success in a Decade. Among her top tips was the analogy of writers being cows producing (hopefully) top quality premium milk, but that we writers depend on all t...he others in the industry - the editors, illustrators and publishers who make our milk into the variety of delicious cheeses available. Emma Quay spoke on Giving Voice, Then Keeping Quiet: the art of making children’s picture books ... and letting them go and told us how important it was to focus on what we were doing and not get distracted by what everyone else is doing. Not sure I could maintain 7 hour writing days like Emma does on her writing and illustrating work, but was certainly inspired by her speech and example. Fiona Lloyd and Suzanne Gervay spoke about the importance of networking, within CKT and SCBWI respectively, which were both inspiring. Georgie Donaghey then launched her beautiful and sad book In The Shadow of an Elephant published by Little Pink Dog Books. After lunch, Jacquie Harvey spoke on Perserverance, Patience, and Partnerships: Three critical components to developing a successful writing career. I was inspired by her use of real locations in her Alice Miranda and other series books. Deborah Abela spoke on Hard, Painful and brilliantly intoxicating- Exploring the why, how, and what you need to invest to be a successful writer. I am always inspired when I hear Deborah speak. During the day, I also had the opportunity to meet with Kathy and Peter Creamer from Little Pink Dog Books for a manuscript assessment and I am grateful for their insight and comments on my work. I have some directions to improve the two picture book manuscripts I submitted and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Kathy and Peter. The day finished with a very informative Publishers Panel and a Pitch Ya Book session. During the day, I also had a chance to network and catch up with many other authors, particularly the lovely ladies in my CKT Critique Group and Jeffery Doherty. See more

18.01.2022 Writing for websites continues to be a core component of my business. Websites are the way customers find and explore your business. If you don’t get the content right, you can lose business. I’m not just talking about getting the spelling and grammar right, although those are important too. - would you trust a business where the publications are sloppy and unprofessional? I’m talking about getting the content right for your business’ target market. The content has to speak ...to your customers, to resonate with them, and to encourage them to actually take the next step of buying your product or service. Does your website content consistently achieve that? I’m offering a special deal to review your website content for just $75. This review would include a complete exploration of your website content and an email list of corrections, suggestions, and ideas to get your content up to date and actually getting your customers to buy. I still offer articles and blogs too - so if you need to get more visitors and return visitors to your website, you need regular articles or blogs. Call me today or message me to get details on a website content review or how my articles could help your business to expand! See more

17.01.2022 Today is Day 6 of the Mums In Business Association’s Facebook challenge. The theme for today is What’s Next, so I thought I’d share my plans for my business. Expanding Creations has changed and developed over the years and I find it fascinating how the business evolves. Right now, I’m concentrating on building up my author profile and am busy writing a few books and children’s stories. Getting published is on the agenda and I’ll be working at it until I achieve that goal. ...I’m also writing many freelance articles and blogs for business websites. If you have a business website, I’m offering a special deal to review your website content for just $75. What’s next for you? #mibafb See more

17.01.2022 It’s a new year and 2019 is going to be a great one for Expanding Creations. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be getting two stories published in the Creative Kids Tales second anthology which will be published later this year. I’ll also be working with Shire Women, partipating in the coffee mornings and networking to build up my website business. Freelance articles and blogs will also add to my income and reputation as an author and writer. Looking forward to a busy and prosperous year and wishing all my colleagues and followers a happy, busy, and prosperous year too.

16.01.2022 Yesterday was World Autism Day. I’m currently writing a children’s novel with three autistic children as the heroes, who work together to solve a problem that turns their whole town into non-functioning zombies. I hope that when it is ready for publication that it will give a voice to autistic children and allow other children to empathise and begin to understand why someone with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) is different but still loveable and able to offer much to the world they live in. Please comment on this post if you wish to share a story about autism that might help add depth to my story. Thanks

With the energy, enthusiasm, and expertise of people like Susan Gervay, Sue Whiting, Georgie Donaghey, Wai Chim, and Tristan Bancks, it couldn’t be anything else but inspiring. Here are my top five ‘take home’ points from the day. 1. PATIENCE Patience is not just a virtue, for anybody wishing to be published (author or illustrator), it is an essential character of life.
