21.01.2022 This week in our permaculture gardens. Planted seedings into gardens Asian greens - choy Cabbages ... Calendula Seeds placed into hot house Tomatoes - several varieties Chillies - several varieties Eggplants - Turkish orange Herbs - basil, parsley, dill Spring flowers- Sunflowers, dahlia’s, zinnia’s plus others - I got a little excited. Harvest 29 potatoes 1 broccoli Silverbeet 2 eggplants Happy gardening

13.01.2022 Garden Update We are currently updating our grounds and turning one of these areas into vegetable gardens. Today we built and planted a new veg garden bed with the help of our trusty helper Henry. When designing we choose a mixed method approach wicking and hugelkultur. Wicking helps with water storage and hugelkultur helps with a more natural approach helps with soil fertility and warmth. ... Step 1 lined the garden bed only 5cm Step 2 collected sticks and leaf litter/mould from around the yard. Step 3 added large mulch and left over pea straw, to a height of 10 cm Step 4 added 2 handfuls of worm castings Step 5 topped with Garden Mix. This garden bed needed a scoop. We planted; Basil Asian green mix - can’t remember the variety Swede Sage Artichoke Chives Calendula All vegetables, herbs and flowers are grown on site from seeds harvested from last year.

08.01.2022 Today in the veg gardens, we emptied the silverbeet and cabbage bed and prepared the soil for tomatoes, chillies and calendula. We added a mixture of soil conditioner, garden mix and blended manure plus castings from our worm farm. Getting ready for our spring planting.
