23.01.2022 Hi all.Shared with permission. One of my favourite trainers and mentors, Trudy Viklund (of Double V Stockdogs - USA) is coming in Nov/Dec this year to run a series of clinics. These will be hosted by Double K and run in Nyora. Please contact Karen Edwards for bookings. I HIGHLY recommend these clinics, Trudy is fantastic and you will get so much out of it, no matter what your level of training. Trudy is an accomplished breeder, trainer & trialler of Australian Shepherds. She ...raises and manages her own livestock, is a herding judge & has judged and trialled in a variety of venues and is experienced in training in a wide variety of herding breeds. Trudy has a wealth of knowledge & experience to share with beginners all the way through to Advanced handlers and dogs. Her quiet, calm, training style and enthusiasm for herding makes a wonderful environment to learn in. Depending on the make up of the clinic (beginners or more advanced people) places will be 6-8 dogs only. Start time of clinics may vary depending on the weather (if hot early starts likely) * Clinic price $220. Deposits of $100 will secure your place - this is a NON REFUNDABLE deposit however all efforts will be made to fill your place should you not be able to attend and need to cancel. * Auditors $100. 10.01.2022 With restrictions easing in Victoria, lessons are now available! Stock hire will also be available for existing clients. No firm dates, PM me to discuss possibilities. From 1 June, overnight stays are allowed so why not make a weekend of it? I have a spare room, a couple of couches and plenty of room to camp with power available. I have updated the cost section on this page - get in touch for an accurate quote for your situation.

09.01.2022 LESSON DETAILS Lessons now available in Chiltern! Lessons are skills based and methods are suitable for any breed and any type of herding, whether that be stock work, mental outlet or competition (including ANKC herding trials and yard trials).... The focus of lessons is to develop your dog’s skill sets. Skills include: Frame of mind - eyes out/release when flanking Teaching sides/directions/flanks (including square, off balance and inside flanks) Finding and holding balance (includes teaching a driving cue) Various driving skills Negotiating obstacles. COST Lessons can be one-on-one, small private groups or clinic format. Get in touch and I can give you an accurate cost for your situation. Cost is based on $60 per hour - so a typical private lesson for one dog which runs for 45 minutes would cost $45, with the dog getting 2 or 3 short runs and the rest of the time allocated for discussion/demonstration. STOCK HIRE Stock hire is available for existing clients and is charged at $20 per hour. I have a 45 x 90m arena and a yard course available for hire. Sheep will be sorted for you, just let me know what you need.

09.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone! It's been pretty quiet here at H Bar Stockdogs' new headquarters in Chiltern, VIC while we all settle in and find our feet. The main training arena (approx 45m x 90m) is built and I have a nice group of quiet training sheep to work dogs on. Sheep yards are a work in progress, as is the B course paddock. I'm hoping to start offering training once the weather cools down a bit. At the moment, it is generally cool enough first thing in the morning and af...ter 7pm to get some work in so if you're travelling through and want to give dogs a run, let me know! At this stage I'm planning to offer training in weekend clinic format rather than regular lesson spots. Free camping is available or I have a spare room in the house for overnight visits. Watch this space!

05.01.2022 Working on another batch of stock sticks (black handles only). Light and strong fibreglass (ANKC trial approved), they measure approx. 120cms and weigh 200g. Ru...bber grips are 20cms long (this is actually fuel emission hose so has some writing on it). Top and bottom are capped with rubber tips (bottom tip can be left unglued so you can alter the length). Price is $20. 04.01.2022 Training available! Sat 21 March, Sat 28 March (until 3pm), Easter weekend Fri 10 - Mon 13. With the weather cooling down, I'll be offering training on an ad-hoc basis, working around my busy trial schedule. Started dogs only, no beginner facilities at this stage unfortunately. Currently have 14 quiet sheep to work, a 40 x 80m arena and a smaller yard course. Paddock work also available if dogs are up to it.... PM to book or call 0419 330 480.
