25.01.2022 Hi All, obviously normal HB Audio activity is suspended for a while, but we are still here and looking forward to the Events industry - and everyone else - getting back on its feet, or new opportunities that may emerge in changed times. Consider that some people you contact for business reasons these days are "working from home" and could well be in their pyjamas or underpants. But more importantly, I hope you are among the fortunate who are in a decent position to deal with the temporarily changed world, and even more importantly, consider those who are less fortunate and what it might be possible for you to do to help them. Best wishes from HB Audio

25.01.2022 Looks like Nobel laureate and champion of the people Aung San Suu Kyi endorses Shure microphones....

25.01.2022 Another smorgasbord from this weeks HB Audio menu: exclusive private party featuring jazz singer and her ensemble; multiple PA systems out on hire; AV for catwalk fashion show; lectern presentation at consular function. Next week Christmas is coming with school pageants and a movie night. Variety is the spice of life and HB Audio caters for a wide range of events and needs in many settings.

24.01.2022 HB Audio provides production services for a wide range of events. Some great feedback from an ANZAC Day customer.

23.01.2022 Lots of fun in the HB Audio shed today testing the integration between Midas M32 and DAW computer recording. Listening to a 24 track recording in the HB Audio archives made live in Melbourne Town Hall way back in 2007 using an Alesis HD24 connected to direct outputs of an Allen&Heath GL2400 that ran the live show. (Howzat for a bit of history!) The 24bit 48K tracks quickly mixed without EQ, dynamics or other processing sound sweet already via the M32.

22.01.2022 What you do to avoid a train tripping hazard for your hose or cable......

21.01.2022 Does our concert pitch tuning to A=440Hz sound good? Most of us have only heard music at A440 and it is the "standard environment" taken for granted. Today Ive been listening to a recording that I worked on a while ago which composer Graham Bishop has pitch shifted to tune it to A=432Hz, sometimes known as Pythagorean tuning, and sent me a copy to get my impressions. Well, I can hear a bit of digital grittiness due to the conversion compared to the original 440 Hz version, b...ut what the slight key change seems to do is add an ethereal and relaxing dimension that makes for a more involving and satisfying (soulful?) experience. Although its a decrease in frequency, the tuning seems more "elevated" and especially complements the style of music on this example of Grahams work. Not a scientific controlled A-B test by any means, but my initial impressions of 432Hz are very positive and somewhat surprised. What do the music experts and lovers out there think? See more

21.01.2022 Wow!....there are only 8 weeks until Christmas. As the festive season approaches it also means that there are only 8 weekends left to celebrate your school carols, work party or private function. We are taking bookings every day so make sure you dont miss out. Call us now on 9432 9629.

19.01.2022 Seems it's possible to route per application PC Windows 10 Audio to multiple devices simultaneously! (although latency is greater for devices involving Bluetooth) The tech department is still at it figuring out nerdy stuff while Melbourne's events industry is closed during the second COVID wave. Hope to be providing people outside the household with sound in the not too distant future....

15.01.2022 Nerd file entry: Im having fun with interfaces and have managed to transform a Yamaha LS9-16, which has 16 analogue inputs, into a 32-channel desk by addition of an ADAT I/O card and a pair of 8x8 analogue/digital interfaces. Internally, the LS9-16 is a 32 channel mixer with 2 sixteen channel layers. So the very compact LS9-16 becomes a 32 analogue input mixer, with an additional bonus of either 16 extra analogue outputs for sends (foldback etc.) or digital connection to our Alesis HD-24 hard disk recorder for up to 16 channel digital recording. Very good bang for buck as all this gives another lease of life to various pieces of equipment not the least being the hard disk recorder, which in its time has made some great live multitrack recordings at gigs.

15.01.2022 Swing Patrol hosted an incredible night of great music with Andy Swann and the Hot Seven performing live to a full house of enthusiastic swing dancers. This album is a highlight of the night and showcases the band, the dancers and the Malvern Town Hall.

15.01.2022 Swing Patrol hosted Australias premier Blues Dancing Festival - Blues Before Sunrise featuring The Gordon Webster All Stars, Yvette Johansson and Hetty Kate at The Meat Market in North Melbourne. This album is a highlight of Saturday and Sunday evening.

13.01.2022 And some of our customers are so keen, they book well in advance

11.01.2022 Yamahas StageMix app is a great way to remote control their digital mixers from the place your ears should be. On Saturday I was remote mixing a band front and centre crouched down in the aisle with the iPad. The "game" I was playing was of enormous interest to a little girl who wanted to join in, but was a bit miffed when I was a big meanie and didnt let her. I dont want to be upstaged by the consummate mixing chops of a four year old.....

09.01.2022 Starting training program for HB Audios COVID-19 Safe Certified audio operator. Student is attentive, bright eyed and bushy tailed and we begin with the analogue boards.

08.01.2022 Glad to be of Service. Get in touch so HB Audio can help you!

07.01.2022 As we hopefully permanently emerge from restrictions on events activity, it's time for HB Audio to reach out into a wakening Victoria and look for opportunity to help you celebrate all those things that have been waiting to be celebrated. It has been challenging to have been "on the side" for months. In that time there's been plenty of webinars and online & in house training on various technology and we're busting to leave (some of) the screens behind and do it for real for you again!

06.01.2022 Having recently survived the spectrum changes, were back to having fun with wireless mics. Got a bunch of them to all work just fine across a 140M wide site. Antennas in the middle and we were even receiving through a building

05.01.2022 Having fun with a Rode NT2000 large diaphragm condenser mic on clarinet/saxophone the other night. Had a second one near the f hole on double bass. They worked a treat on both instruments. And well played Brennan and co!

05.01.2022 Another day at the MIDAS M32 office. With DL32 32/16 stage box making it super tidy.

03.01.2022 HB Audio has staging solutions for your event, contact us to discuss your needs.

03.01.2022 Are you looking for something to do today? Drop in to the Fairfield Amphitheatre for an afternoon of music from 5:00pm - 7:30pm. Head down to Fairfield Park Drive, off Heidelberg Road, Fairfield. Ride a bike, walk the Main Yarra Trail or catch a train. The Fairfield Amphitheatre is a 5 minute walk from Fairfield Station and just 16 mins by train from the city.... Yummy sweet and savoury treats will be available at the Fairfield Amphitheatre Kiosk. Bring a cushion or rug and enjoy!

02.01.2022 While being "on the side" for the time being, I've been listening to some wonderful music - unfortunately without being able to share the experience as usual. This listening has included some amazing "virus inspired" pieces which have often been hilarious as well as brilliant. Music is one of the things that sets us apart as a species, and I'm thinking of all those gifted musicians, creative people and those running the events where music is shared who HB Audio has had the privilege of working with over the years. Looking forward to working with you again. Everyone keep playing!

02.01.2022 Starting training program for HB Audio's COVID-19 Safe Certified audio operator. Student is attentive, bright eyed and bushy tailed and we begin with the analogue boards.

02.01.2022 A grand couple of days out for HB Audio. Proud as punch to have supported the Surrey Hills Music Festival over the last few years! Congratulations and hats off to the SHMF Committee and Volunteers.
