16.01.2022 Technique Tuesday: Key tips for performing a hip thrust . Your glutes are the largest muscles in your lower body, and strong, functional glutes decrease the likelihood of lower back injuries! One of the best exercises to build your glutes is the hip thrust. When setting up, dont be like Pete on the left. You want a box that sits along the bottom of your shoulder blades, and then keeping your chin tucked in as you squeeze the glutes to lift the hips. Keep your rib cage down, and tuck your tail bone under to lift the hips, ensuring you are using the glutes and not arching through the lower back.

Ian is the star of the month with his double replacement, performed only a couple of months ago. We represent the full gamut of available surgeries, as Roy has a half -knee; Al and I, one each; and Ian who just had to show off and do the double Other gym members are welcome to join our club within a club, provided they can produce the necessary surgeons certificate of compliance. There will probably be an annual celebration, in the form of a party and demonstration of Knees-Up Mother Brown, eventually, if I can persuade my colleagues to pay for the band."

Tuck your chin and bring your eyes to the floor as you deadlift to help prevent any excessive arching through the lower back, and keep your core engaged throughout the whole movement.
