Six pilots flew to take advantage of the special $100 an hour HDFC flying charge for these days. Our most outstanding pilots were: 1. Rod Davison 253 points... 2. Mark Whatson 245 points 3. 06.01.2022 There’s an old saying; ‘Train hard, fight easy.’ That’s exactly how things have played out for 16 year old Riley, who flew his first solo this morning before school. Riley has done almost all his training in the afternoons, and that means he has been learning to land with strong winds, turbulent conditions and even stiff crosswinds at times. Regardless, Riley has been doing a tremendous job, getting to solo in about the same number of hours as others who do all their training... in the calm conditions of the very early morning. The tough training paid dividends this morning when he smashed out three great dual circuits then one on his own. How was it? ‘It was easy.’ Good work dude. You did great! (As an interesting side note, apart from his part time job working the farm, Riley is also quite the cattle tycoon, buying and selling cows and bulls to pay for his flying. Last count he had 35 head of cattle to his name!
