Sundays 4:15pm-5:15pm 4th,11th, 18th November... Why: If you work in an area where you are constantly giving, cultivating a self-care program can greatly enhance ourselves and our work. If you work with any trauma this affects you. Laura van Dernoot Lipsky author of Trauma Stewardship states I had absorbed and accumulated trauma to the point that it had changed me If any of the following feel familiar (taken from The 16 Warning Signs of Trauma exposure Response) Chronic exhaustion or Physical Ailments Numbing, shut down emotions . Feeling like you can’t do enough to help. The problems are so big and complex. You see the world through the lens of your work. Your social activities have diminished Your creativity has lessened or gone completely. Then the antidote is self-care. 10.01.2022 Why Restorative Yoga? Some of the Benefits Soothes the Nervous system... The slow pace of Restorative yoga allows your relaxation response to activate, taking you out of the flight, fight or freeze mode that most are in due to stressors of daily living. Your blood pressure and heart rate will decrease, and muscles will relax. This sets a deeply restoring tone for the class and your body. Helps to develop the head, heart, hands process. Restorative yoga supports you to cultivate an expanded awareness of your physical sensations, thoughts and emotions that arise or are present in you. Instead of adding story to these, we learn simply to observe and let them be, come or go. We learn to take this off the mat and respond rather than react to life’s challenges. Supports you to feel safe and nurtured Through the process of Restorative yoga, you are supported to connect with your pure essence. The part of you that is always and will always be with you, the part that can never be broken or hurt despite what is happening on the outside. From here we develop a safe place from the inside out, so no matter whats happening in our lives, we know we can always be there for ourselves.
