25.01.2022 We understand that many people in the community are frustrated by the time required for listing despite approval being recommended by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) over 12 months ago. Some patients and carers may not be fully aware of the processes in place required by all new listings to proceed even after a positive PBAC recommendation has occurred. That said, Migraine & Headache Australia is working collaboratively with government to help ensure that the voice of 5 million Australians is represented and heard by the policymakers. Listing this treatment is a nonpartisan issue:

17.01.2022 When a tool or medicine that provides pain relief is unexpectedly taken away, it has a huge impact on the management of our disease. We understand that people in this community rely on these tools to help manage migraine disease. Read more about what this means for patients.https://buff.ly/2RJvfAO

17.01.2022 Thankyou to Teva Pharma for supporting some of our migraine community through the Ajovy Patient Familiarization Program. We heard news from Teva about the program this week. "As part of our ongoing commitment to the migraine community, Teva Pharma Australia Pty Ltd. has proudly supported Australian migraine patients through the AJOVY PFP since October 2019. The purpose of Teva’s PFP was to enable doctors to gain real world experience and evaluate the suitability of AJOVY for ...their migraine patients. Having achieved this purpose, the program will now close at the end of 2020. Enrolled PFP patients received AJOVY delivered direct to their home or nominated address, at no cost, and had access to free nurse injection training during the PFP. We have informed enrolled patients and their treating doctors about the program closure. Patients should book a follow up appointment with their treating doctor to discuss what this change means to them. Teva understands the importance of the availability of migraine treatments, whether through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) or private prescription. Our discussions with the Department of Health regarding PBS listing continue, and we remain committed to securing access to AJOVY via the PBS as soon as possible."

15.01.2022 Botox is available on the PBS for qualifying patients with chronic migraine. It is administered by a neurologist trained in Botox use. Treatment is every 12 weeks, and it may take 2-3 rounds of treatment to see if it is going to be effective for you. You can still use other preventative and abortive medications if necessary whilst on botox treatment. Have you tried botox for chronic migraine? How did you go? There is an article on our website for further information http://ow.ly/Knat50CuiU1
