22.01.2022 Due to the evolving situation in Queensland, were going to be encouraging Zoom and phone appointments as our first option. If you need to have an appointment in-person, we will ask that you wear a mask during your appointment. This is to ensure your safety, as well as the safety of our staff and other young people accessing the centre. We will continue to run our groups programs, however we will be limiting the number of people who can attend each group and also asking everyone who attends to wear a mask for the duration of the group. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us on 3280 7900.

21.01.2022 Connection to culture, knowing who I am and where I come from has filled a gap in my identity that I needed to feel whole. This week we celebrate NAIDOC. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. This year’s theme is Always Was, Always Will Be. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country. ... We asked some of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people how connection supports their wellbeing. Connection can be to country, waters, kin, Elders, community, totem and more. #NAIDOC #alwayswasalwayswillbe #Indigenous #mentalhealthawareness

04.01.2022 The practice of taking time off work for your mental health tends to be more of a grey area - especially in times like this. It may be all too easy to convince yourself that poor mental health isnt a good enough reason. But remember, your mental health is just as important as your physical health, just like bodily distress, your mind needs time to rest and recover. Swipe across for some tips on how to take a mental health day. 1 You dont need to go into detail or justif...y it to anyone. 2 Just like a sick day, do things that make you feel better. Do things that make you feel good, not what you think you should be doing. 3 Take a longer break if a single day-off isnt quite enough. Take action and reach out for more support See more

02.01.2022 Can you participate in research on conflict and resilience in parent-adolescent relationships? You may be eligible if: You are a parent/guardian of an adolescent child You are a young person/adolescent aged 10 - 19... Fluent in written and spoken English and currently living in Australia What does it mean to participate: 1. Complete a 10-min online survey and a 1.5 hour online interview 2. The online interview will be conducted by Imogen Frazer who is the student researcher on this project. Imogen will ask you questions about your perspective and experiences of conflict and resilience in parent-adolescent relationships, and any impacts COVID-19 has had on your parent-adolescent relationship. When and where: The survey and interview are both completed online at a time/date that suits you. You can complete the survey and interview on your phone, tablet or computer. Why: We are trying to improve the current understanding of conflict and resilience in parent-adolescent relationships and understand the impact of COVID-19 on parent-adolescent relationships. Currently, there is limited Australian research on this topic, and lot of the research that has been done is outdated This research project will hopefully help people who are working with parents and adolescents to better understand conflict and resilience in parent-adolescent relationships If you are interested in being involved, get in touch with Imogen Frazer on [email protected] This project (20201432-4504) has been approved by or on behalf of Swinburnes Human Research Ethics Committee (SUHREC) in line with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research. If you have any concerns or complaints about the conduct of this project, you can contact: Research Ethics Officer, Swinburne Research (H68)
