Are you looking for an opportunity to help promote positive mental health and encourage early help seeking? TAYhYA is a unique peer based program. Our volunteers attend secondary schools and sports clubs to facilitate interactive mental health workshops. Ambassadors also attend schools during lunchtime and host a range of activities to students. The program also includes in-house orientation ‘client meet and greet’ sessions with new young people who are referred to headspace centres for counselling. Ambassadors welcome clients to the service by providing an overview of what to expect at headspace, a tour of the centre, introduce our group program and provide helpful tips and resources to use between appointments. This time we are rolling out the program across four headspace centres: Adelaide, Edinburgh North, Marion (opening early 2021) and Onkaparinga. 22.01.2022 Being developed right here in SA by Flinders University, 'I am Media Smart' is a fully online and confidential 8-module program designed to help those of us between 13-25 who are experiencing body image concerns and/or signs of an eating disorder As 'I am Media Smart' is still in its trial stage, the team behind the program would love YOUR help completing some surveys and participating in the modules. 20.01.2022 With Movember over, we have a final update from the one and only Andy! "Hi all! So Movember is all done and dusted!... I managed to get my goal of 1000kms done! with a day to spare. As it was such a nice day on Sunday, I decided to make a (big) day of it, covering 210kms in under 10 hours. I was pretty wrapt with this one, as it was my biggest ever ride in one day and at a pretty decent average pace. I am also happy to report that I met my goal amount of funds, and got to $545.00 raised for the Movember! cause." Andy has included some photos from the final parts of his challenge. The day is a unique chance for volunteers and organisations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, government authorities and the private sector. We are lucky here at headspace Edinburgh North to have an amazing group of volunteers in our Youth Reference Group (YRG). During this time, we are reducing the delivery of non-critical, in person services. We are continuing to work face-to-face with some clients, where appropriate.... 17.01.2022 ANDY'S MOE AND MULLET FOR MOVEMBER As part of Men's Health Awareness Month, Andy Mcardle from our headspace Edinburgh North and Sonder's emerge North team is taking part in Movember with the goal to raise $500 or more for Men's Health and Mental Health. Not only will Andy be growing a moustache but he will also be sporting a freshly cut mullet and plans to cycle a whopping 1000kms during the month of November.... This is Andy's second year as a 'Mo-bro' and we are very excited to be following his journey, watching his mullet and mo grow and supporting him as he cycles his way to advocating for Men's Health and Mental Health. Whilst the ...majority of our appointments will be delivered by phone or video, Sonder's Walk-in After-hours Mental Health Service at Edinburgh North remains open.
