23.01.2022 I remember when I was a kid I was very connected to art. I recall myself doing crafts all the time and I remember attending private painting classes after school. But somehow along the way I disconnected myself from my artistic side focusing into other things like Uni, work and motherhood. A while ago the desire to do something different to express myself came up to the surface again but at that time I did not give too much attention to it until 2 weeks ago when I treated a s...pecial client. We started talking and she told me that she recently started a Visual Art course. A month later she was employed at an amazing pottery studio. I immediately thought: this girl came to the clinic for a reason!!!! Her beautiful presence was the sign I finally needed to encourage myself to get out of my comfort zone and to take action. And here I am: at my 1st official pottery class Manipulating clay is a wonderful way to calm down the mind, the nerve system and to connect ourselves with our inner being. It’s a magic way to maintain our mental health and wellbeing. Putting our hands to work in a creative way, exercises parts of our brain that have been asleep for a while. Art therapy is an amazing way to know ourselves better and to not be afraid of being judged. It’s just about being in the present moment, and to make the most out of it. 21.01.2022 Breathing is an unconscious natural process, as instinctive as swallowing, sneezing or coughing. We breath in and out thousands of times over the course of the day and probably never give it a second thought BUT Mindful breathing is a very basic yet powerful mindfulness meditation practice. The idea is simply to focus our attention on our breathingto its natural rhythm and flow and the way it feels on each inhale and exhale. Studies have proved mindful breathing practice can Reduce stress levels in the body, it can lower our heart rate and even our blood pressure. Not only that, breathing consciously can reduce anxiety and depression and it can regulate our body's reaction to stress and fatigue. Being mindful and aware of our breathing for 5 to 10 minutes a day can help us to cope better with everyday life. @maria_photovisions

15.01.2022 Have you heard about the vagus nerve? The term vagus derived from Latin for wandering which is what the vagus nerve does. It is one of the 10 cranial nerves that branch directly from the brain to the intestines, with stops along the way at the heart & lungs. It’s major responsibility is to regulate heart, lung and digestive functions and it’s a 2 way highway, sending signals back & forth between the intestinal tract and the brain. It regulates the GUT-BRAIN response. Published findings indicate that meditation and various contemplative practices may improve immune response by stimulating the vagus nerve in such a way that body inflammation is reduced.

14.01.2022 Meet Wallace! This old fashion hot water bottle is so popular in my massage room a client kindly named it WALLACE - THE WATER BOTTLE! It’s mission is to help relaxing people’s bodies, promoting a comfortable and cozy environment during the massage or Reflexology treatment. Nowadays there are different types of heat packs available but I must confess the old school one is still my favorite ... Do you like hot water bottle or any other heat pack types? When and how do you normally use them for? CAUTION: Make sure you have your hot water bottle inside a wool bag like mine to protect your skin from burning. If you don’t have one make sure you wrap it up in a towel before use. Also, make sure the cap is properly sealed and don’t forget - keep away from children!!!!

It helps our feet and our whole body to relax. Taking care of our body is not a luxury. It’s self care Having some me time is also precious for our general health & wellbeing. Try this and feel amazing Recipe: a recipient with warm water. Add 1/4 cup of Epsom salts (or magnesium flakes). Add 3 drops of lavender & 3 drops of tea tree essential oils. Give it a mix and soak your feet until the water gets cold. Enjoy!!!

04.01.2022 I got frequently asked about how I cope massaging people all day (don’t you get tired???), having a family to look after, including my gorgeous 2 dogs!), plus coping with everything I commit myself to...Well there are no secrets. The same little things I suggest my clients to do are the ones I prioritize most in my life: keeping myself active with my daily exercise routine, having regular massages and other holistic therapies treatments, eating healthy (without being too neurotic about it!), hydrating my body, making sure I have a restful night sleep, practicing mindful breathing/meditation and the most important: not stressing too much about life despite the challenges and circumstances. BEING HAPPY is my number one rule because in the end of the day that’s why we are all here for!!! Don’t you agree??
