14.01.2022 Today at 11.30am we were paged to support Yarra Glen Fire Brigade to a major Structure Fire at Balgownie Estate. Our crew were on scene for 4 hours. At the peak of the fire there was approx 40+ fire fighters on scene from both the CFA (Country Fire Authority) and MFB (Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade). Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were also on scene. During this time we were also paged to support Badger Creek Fire Brigade to a ruptured gas main. Our crew were on... scene for approx 3 hours. Tonight, at 6.15pm, we were paged to a smoke alarm operating. This was found to be caused by a blocked chimney. This is a perfect time to remind residents to check your chimney BEFORE lighting a fire. Especially if the fire hasn’t been lit in a few months. A busy day for Healesville Fire Brigade.

13.01.2022 2020 and all that it brings has made it difficult for the Healesville Fire Brigade to help Santa visit the many groups normally visited this time of year. So the brigade will instead bring Santa to town. On Thursday 17th December the Healesville Fire Brigade tanker will carry Santa down the main street of Healesville for "a few laps of the town" between 7pm and 7:30pm.... We feel this will also help support the many local businesses who will be trading on Thursday evenings in the main street and add a little more Christmas spirit to the evening.

09.01.2022 Can you believe it’s November already! With summer just around the corner, it’s probably a good time to refresh the community about fire safety when clearing and cleaning up your property.

An aggressive internal attack was conducted and the fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes. 4 appliances from Healesville and 1 from Badger Creek Fire Brigade were on scene.

08.01.2022 Just a quick reminder to make sure your burn offs are completely extinguished before leaving them unattended. Coming into the peak of spring and then into summer, wind can reignite coals and spark new fires.

05.01.2022 With many Victorians working from home, it’s important everyone takes some simple steps to keep their household safe. Don’t overload electrical sockets. Keep it neat and it won’t overheat! Maintain good airflow around electronic devices.... Avoid charging electronic items on beds or surfaces that can burn. Turn off all appliances at the power point when not in use.

03.01.2022 FYI There is currently a large tree and powerlines down across Camerons Road. The road is blocked from the St Leonard’s road end to Healesville High School. Power company is currently in attendance.

01.01.2022 The Healesville Fire Brigade would like to offer it’s most sincere condolences to the family and friends of former member Robert (Bob) Pockett, and to the Toolangi Fire Brigade. Bob was in his 99th year. Bob first joined CFA as a volunteer with Healesville brigade on 25 March 1942. He resigned as a volunteer on 26 April 1944. He then became one of the founding members of the Toolangi Fire Brigade on 27 November 1953. Though not as visible around the Toolangi brigade in recent... years, Bob always kept an ear out to what they were up to, maintained contact with the members, enjoyed the successes the brigade has experienced, and maintained his passion for the Toolangi Fire Brigade. The way Toolangi brigade emerged from being a very small, and at times derided bush outfit, to a well-equipped and professional brigade during the latter 1970’s, can all be attributed to the involvement that Bob has had in this brigade over the years. Bob has always been an integral part of the base support for the brigade. Besides being passionate about the Toolangi brigade, Bob had a very keen interest in all things historical. With his family having been in the area for such a long time, his input has been invaluable. Bob has written two brigade histories, one being that of the Toolangi Fire Brigade; and another titled, Answering the Call The History of Healesville Fire Brigade 1894-2002. His legacy will live on through those that knew him, the strawberry runner scheme, through the incredible contribution to the fire brigade and the many books he wrote on the history of the local areas, organisations and features.

01.01.2022 Santa isn’t the only one working around the clock this holiday season.
