15.01.2022 Sleep is the one of the most important parts of our daily routine; next to eating, exercising and taking your herbal . During this time our body 'resets' for the day ahead, our brains file and label each piece of information we assimilated, our adrenals and liver make nutrient stores for new hormones and cells, our muscles, skin and bones repair themselves. Sleep is key to our physical wellness, as we spend roughly 1/3 of our lives asleep (8+16=24hours). When this goes w...rong, our whole reset mechanism goes haywire, we dont repair damage as well as we need to, our brain is rushing around trying to make sense of what happened that day and our adrenal glands have trouble keeping up with our hormones as they are being forced to pump out copious amounts 24/7. This is where naturopathy can help. I can help identitfy stressors that impact sleep onset and maintenance, we can adjust your daily routine to be more sleep friendly, but also, I can help you get to sleep with a sleep herbal. Herbs such as Withania, Hops, California Poppy, Dong Guai and Rehmania etc; can be employed in a preformulated or custom sleep herbal to aid in sleep and recovery. #oasisofhealth #Healing_oasisofhealth #healing.oasisofhealth #Sleep #Insomnia #Sleepaid #Sedative #Hypnotic #Mandurah #Herbalist #Naturopath #Healing #healing

11.01.2022 Herbal teas - More than just hot leaf juice! Well formulated herbal teas, whether you buy them from a herbalist/naturopath (which I recommend you do) or a supermarket, are an aromatic blend of herbs that taste good, make you feel great and have awesome effects on your body. Herbal teas, if blended properly can have massive effects on your body, which is most noticeable when you first try a sleep tea for example. You wouldnt expect that a tea made from Lavender, Passionflower..., Cinnamon, and Withania could have the therapeutic power it does. I have blended this particular blend for years, and it has worked wonders for clients struggling to sleep, struggling to wake up, and clients who can't get their minds to switch off. The therapeutic potential of a properly blended tea comes from a little phenomenon known as Synergy! Synergy is what occurs when the whole is more than the sum of its parts, like 2+2=42. Where all the components work their magic for a greater therapeutic potential. In tea, this effect comes into its own, where you have several weak extractions having massive effects on the body. I believe it is due to the involvement of more than just the phytochemistry, but the involvement of the whole process of making the tea, drinking the tea, and the person as well. Herbal teas have been used since time immemorial, to do tasks, like support healthy pregnancy and birth, to regulate menses, to aide in internal healing, and some herbs have always been documented as a "tea only formula", herbs such as raspberry leaf, comfrey, yarrow, and marshmallow are always seen in water-based formulations. This is due to the constituents in them not being able to dissolve in alcohol, or being toxic (like comfrey) when dissolved in alcohol. Alas, not many practitioners see the therapeutic potential of teas as they prefer the stronger plant extracts. #herbaltea #herbalist #naturopath #sleeptea #mandurah #perth #holistic #holistichealth #oasisofhealth #westernaustralia #herbalmedicine #healingherbs #australherbs #lavender #withania #cinnamon #passionflower #notjusthotleafjuice

04.01.2022 10 Ways To Get More Antioxidants Into Your Diet Its no secret that antioxidants are incredibly beneficial to good health. Its believed the antioxidants in foo...d can help prevent cancer, reverse or slow aging, enhance your immune system, increase your energy and improve heart and other organ health. Given all we know about antioxidants and their beneficial properties, its amazing more people dont get enough fruits and vegetables, the primary sources of antioxidants. Experts recommend a minimum of 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, but say getting 7-10 servings is best. There are 10 steps to getting more antioxidants into your diet. 1.Breakfast Breakfast doesnt have to be a hurried bit of toast on the way out the door. Throw some strawberries, 100% juice and yogurt into a blender; pour your delicious mixture into a cup and head out the door. Youve just added one to three servings of fruits to your daily intake. Or throw some berries onto your cold or hot cereal. 2.Snacks How about a handful of raisins for a snack, or some fresh red grapes? Dip some strawberries in yogurt. Youll feel decadent, but the berries provide the color youre looking for. Need crunch? How about some baby carrots dipped in hummus? Consider a handful of pecans for crunch and a nice antioxidant boost. 3.Lunch and dinner It might sound trite, but adding a salad to each of your main daily meals can add loads to your overall health and well-being. They dont have to be boring, and they dont have to be just salad greens. If youre going classic, add some red capsicum pepper slices to your green salad, some tomatoes to the Greek salad, or tart cranberries to your wild greens. Whip up a broccoli salad for lunch, or be adventurous and mix up a rice salad with fresh vegetables like string beans, tomatoes, peppers and red onions. 4.Dessert Berries, with or without a little whipped cream are a wonderful way to end your day of healthy, antioxidant-rich eating. 5.Beverages Replace your soda with tea or coffee, both of which boast antioxidant compounds. Have a glass of wine with dinner, or for a real change of pace, pour a glass of chai tea. 6.Think outside the box We know we can get our antioxidant fix from berries, salads and the like, but researchers say powerful antioxidants can also be found in a variety of unexpected foods, like russet potatoes, artichokes, and small red beans. The beans, in fact, may have more antioxidant power than blueberries, experts say. So to your rice salad full of vegetables, add some beans for even more antioxidants. 7.Cook lightly You think youre being good, preparing vegetables each night for your familys dinner. But if youre overcooking the vegetables, youre cooking out a lot of the beneficial properties of the antioxidants. Steam (dont boil) vegetables, and stop cooking them when they will have all of their bright color and most of their bite. 8.Plant a garden Experts believe that people who plant and harvest vegetables from their own yards are far more likely to eat more vegetables and fruits than people who buy their produce from the store. So plant a garden, watch it grow and eat the fruits (literally) of your labor. 9.Take your healthy diet on vacation Too many of us consider going on vacation an opportunity to take a vacation from everything, including healthy eating. Think of vacation as a way to be introduced to new foods. Order an interesting vegetable dish in a restaurant and then pay attention to how the chef prepared the dish. 10.Learn to cook If youre cooking, youre not opening bags and boxes. Cooking involves scrubbing and peeling vegetables, preparing whole foods and paying attention to how things are cooked. If youre ordering out every night, youre far less likely to be eating the whole foods and natural fruits and vegetables that provide the base for our antioxidant intake.

03.01.2022 Dysmenorrhea or period pain can be an overlooked part of every womans monthly cycle, but what if I told you that your periods shouldnt be leaving you bed ridden or reaching for the Panadol? Menses is supposed to be a comfortable phase that your body goes through every month, just like ovulation. Pain during menses is also a sign that something may be disrupted or upset and that you may need to see your practitioner. Whether it be a mineral deficiency or an inflammatory reac...tion, a good practitioner should be able to help with Dysmenorrhea. That is why I have crafted a few different Period pain formulations, to help sooth period pain and repair the hormone pathways causing them. Introducing: HALO. A blend of Liquid herbs that help support the reduction of cramping and spasming of the uterus. This herbal is formulated to calm down the muscle spasms that cause severe pain during a womans monthly cycle, through using herbs such as Cramp Bark, Ginger and Chamomile, to sooth, warm and calm the muscles of the uterus. Nourish-Her. A blend of traditional western and Eastern herbs to help nourish and warm up the uterus by directing blood flow and nutrients to the endometrium, the uterus itself and the ovaries. This herbal blends herbs such as Dong Guai, Black Cohosh, and Ginger to make a nourishing and warming herbal that supports the formation of Oocytes and supports the uterus as whole.

01.01.2022 Hay fever and antihistamine season is fast approaching, and some people are already starting to stock up on their hay fever stockpiles. Did you know that hay fever may just be a sign of an overactive immune system, and that Antihistamines may make hay fever worse over time, as the body becomes accustomed to the new amount of Histamine in the system. Let me explain: Usually, histamine is pumped into the blood stream by Granulocytes (grainy immune cells) in response to invader...s, in this case a rouge pollen cell. This response causes immune cells like your Macrophages and NK cells (Your bodies SWAT teams) to attack the rouge invader. When we have an over reactive immune system, we pump out too much histamine, which stimulates more tissues than it is supposed to, causing hay fever symptoms. When taking antihistamines, you shut down your bodys natural invader control system, and the tissue inflammation calms down. We do this day in and day out, until our tissues become accustomed to the antihistamines through the process described in the first paragraph. This causes your hay fever to creep back to its original level, and the antihistamines stop working, whilst the over reactivity of your immune system remains masked. Through Herbal medicine, and a naturopathic approach we can change this overactive response, we can balance your immune system. Herbal Medicines such as Rehmania, Withania, Albizia and Echinacea help balance the immune response, whilst B vitamins such as B6 act on reducing the amount of histamine in your blood and support the production of healthy immune cells. Vitamin D calms down any neural inflammation and support the natural response of your immune cells to pathogens.
