16.01.2022 * self-care and slowing down * In this day and age being busy is a normal thing. There is this thought that we have to be constantly doing and constantly moving otherwise we arent good enough. We are working longer shifts, bringing work home with us, racing the kids to after school activities, trying to get meals on tables, get the housework done, it doesnt ever end. There will always be something that needs doing, and that is a lot of pressure. ... The pressure of busy makes it feel like you have to get everything done and so many people are feeling like they are failing at life because they just cant do everything. But do you know what? Its ok if you dont get the dishes done today, its ok if the laundry is still in the living room taking up that armchair, its ok if the kids are getting a quick meal tonight, its ok if you dont get everything done. Its so ok because there is always tomorrow. With isolation and the current state of the world this year has bought about alot of uncertainty and added pressures and now more.than ever we need to practice active self care and check in with ourselves. If you are feeling you mental health decline, check in and ask yourself these questions: * Am I hydrated? * Have I moved or stretched my body today? * Have I connected with someone today? * What are 3 things I am grateful for today? Remind yourself that you cannot fill from an empty cup and your self care is as important as anyone elses. So intentionally 'become un-busy', blow off something(s) on your to-do list and get comfortable with just being. Take a relaxing bath, read that book youve been meaning to get to or sit in the garden with a cuppa.

08.01.2022 Happy INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (IWD) It’s International Women’s Day, recognising the achievements of women and encouraging communities to strive for equality, and the theme for 2021 is ‘Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.’ I am so very lucky to be surrounded by strong women. I was raised by one and grew up with many. My mother, my grandmother, my aunt's, and friends are all badass, strong, empowering women. They are all in various types o...f work and are all uniquely special and wondrous in their own abilities. I have an array of these successful women to look up to, some are in the work force in, some are in leadership roles, some are working from home, some are raising families and some are retired. They are all accomplished and all so amazing Take a moment and think about the amazing women you have in your life! Tag them, share this with them and just remind them how badass they are "Why do we celebrate this day internationally?" You may ask. IWD is dedicated to celebrating women’s achievements in the social, economic, cultural, and political spheres. Back in 1911, only 8 countries allowed women to vote, equal pay for equal work was unheard of if women were allowed to work at all and reproductive rights were non-existent. In 1893, New Zealand was the first nation in the world to grant female adult women the right to vote, many countries followed in quick succession. However, there are still countries particularly in Africa and Arabia where voting has been legislated, but violence against women at the voting polls alarming! March 8 is the day the world celebrates how far women's rights have come, and recognises how far we have yet to go. HERE'S TO STRONG WOMEN MAY WE KNOW THEM MAY WE BE THEM MAY WE RAISE THEM #IWD2021 #womensupportingwomen #womeninbusiness #womenpower #womenempoweringwomen

05.01.2022 WOMEN'S HEALTH WEEK Hi Wellness Warriors! This week is women's health week. It is designed to empower the women in our lives to take control of their health and wellbeing.... Women tend to put themselves at the bottom of the priority list. Taking time out for ones self is often met with guilt and looking after oneself when you have a household to keep up with often feels selfish. But self care is a priority, you can't fill from an empty cup. It has been a tough year, so this week it will be an even more important reminder for women to look after themselves and take positive action for their health and wellbeing and encourage them to make time for themselves, even if it is just an hour or so. Some simple ways to get back on track with looking after your health and wellbeing this women's health week are: * Book a check up appointment with your doctor if it has been a while since you have been or if you have been feeling rundown. * Take time to check in with others. Have a coffee date with a friend and check in with each other. * Get some sun - 20 mins a day is enough to boost the mood and meet vitamin d requirements. * Take some time out for yourself to do something relaxing or something you enjoy Most importantly, reach out if you are having a difficult time with mental health. Speak to a loved one or get in contact with one of the support services I've listed below if you are struggling. 04.01.2022 *SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY* Today, September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day. This is one day dedicated to bringing awareness and understanding to suicide. The impacts of suicide are immediate, far-reaching and long-lasting. They are felt by families, friends, work colleagues and the broader community.... There is no single cause for suicide. Suicide most often occurs when stressors exceed current coping abilities. It is important that we bring awareness about to mental health and suicide so that we can change the way that they are understood and discussed in the community and eventually seeking help for mental health becomes as normal as going to the doctor when you have the flu. Today is a reminder to always check on your friends and loved ones. Dont be afraid to ask if someone is ok more than once. You are not alone and its ok to not be ok. #worldsuicidepreventionday #itsoktonotbeok #mentalhealthawareness #haveyoucheckedonyourfriendslately?
