24.01.2022 *** THURSDAY 26/09/19 approx. 11am *** In this week’s live stream I’m having a guest on the show - who’s going to be talking about his experiences building a br...and new home and the problems he’s had and discuss some of the pathways towards a resolution. This is a real example of some of the practical problems that others may also be dealing with across Australia. This interview shines a spotlight on building defects and how they are handled, as well as the impacts on family health and safety. It’s within this context that I’m also going to be addressing the issue of exhaust fans and ventilation especially in bathrooms but also in other habitable rooms. There's a well defined Building Code of Australia that covers ventilation requirements for toilets, bathrooms and kitchens. But what about when you discover your vent simply goes into the roof void or you're experiencing a build-up of condensation on your internal window glass, despite making sure you are in fact 'ventilating your home'? What's going wrong? Also, when is it permitted to vent into the roof void and when should you consider this bad practice and why? We’ll also be discussing some of the options for improving ventilation and reviewing what the research literature says about exhaust fans and their relationship to the airflow map across and through the home layout and how this impacts on things like condensation and odour dissipation. Finally, there will be a short discussion on what the research says about asthma and exhaust fans. *** Live stream tomorrow here on FB - Thursday 26/09/19 at approx. 11am ***

17.01.2022 The issue of environmental contamination with COVID-19 is a very real threat. Existing research with other strains of Influenza suggests that virus can remain a risk for person-to-person contact transfer, anywhere from 1 day up to 17. If that's true for COVID-19, then appropriate infection control measures should apply to banknotes. #COVID19 #coronavirus #environmentalhealth #ACA9 #publichealth

12.01.2022 A really good paper by Jeanette Hope came out in 2013 which focuses on the mechanism of injury and treatment approaches linked with exposure to water damage buildings, mould and mycotoxins. If you or someone you know is affected by biotoxins like mould then you should look up this scientist on Pub Med. Of course, if you click the link in my bio I can also help you with advice and testing.

Possible ca...ses have been identified across 33 states and one US territory. Symptoms of the illness include vomiting, nausea, shortness of breath, coughing and chest pain.
