What is Paraffin wax? What does it do? What are the benefits? Paraffin wax is a treatment to soften and smooth skin, it is also an excellent moisturiser (very beneficial for dry, cracked hands and feet) that forms a light waterproof coating over your skin that helps it retain the oils produced by your body. Hands or feet are submerged (applied for face) in the warm wax bath creating a thick coating, as the wax hardens, the paraffin’s natural emollient softens skin and the heat opens up the pores. When the cooled wax is pulled away, it removes dead skin cells, leaving skin smoother. It is also used as heat therapy, beneficial in many ways, including, muscle, tendon and ligament alignment, and for people with arthritis and other rheumatic diseases as the heat increases the blood flow, assists with circulation, improve joint stiffness and reduce muscles.
