25.01.2022 Managing Anxiety in the Now Hypnotherapy helps with anxiety in several ways: relaxation training, exposure to fearful stimuli, cognitive restructuring, guided imagery training, emotional processing and emotion mind integration. Clinical Hypnotherapy is recognized as a model of integrative psychotherapy which is the most effective model of psychotherapy integration, informed by both theoretical integration and technical eclecticism. Hypnotherapy for anxiety disorders consists ...of four separate, but interrelated phases. These are (1) assessment and the establishment of therapeutic relationship (2) symptom control (3) healing of splits that have occurred at moments of challenge with insufficient support (4) ongoing acceptance and awareness in the present time. Through a trusting, empathic, genuine, non-judgmental, and collaborative relationship hypnotherapy fosters hope and positive expectations for change in patients, particularly those who have experienced betrayal, insecure attachments to their parents, or mistreatment of any kind. 22.01.2022 Birth Recovery for new Mums The birth of your child may have been a long-awaited pleasure and a dream come true. However, for some of us, we may have found that the circumstances we were not quite as expected. In Australia, 1 in 3 women reports their births as traumatic. The Australian Birth Trauma Association defines birth trauma as dis-ease arising from the delivery of a baby that results in psychological or social difficulties. You may have felt invisible or out of control... in the hospital system. The need to be treated humanely may not have been met as you imagined it would. You may even have felt abandoned and lost. While a roller coaster of emotions, that you weren’t expecting, may have left you with recurring nightmares or a sense of guilt. Post-traumatic stress from birthing can also impact on breastfeeding and lead to delayed or failed milk production and can even interfere with attachment to your new child. Women deserve help to heal mentally and as well, they need a space to have their hurt heard. Too often mothers can be left with intrusive flashbacks and too little understanding of how common this might be. Some of the effects of having a traumatic birth include; feeling like a failure, doubting your ability to be a good parent, disconnecting through unworthiness, staying inside and not interacting with others. 21.01.2022 Women today are under greater pressure than previous generations. True healing of birth trauma is vitally important for women. Social connection is poorer than it was in previous generations. Women can feel isolated and unsupported in their way forward as a mother. Family support is often impacted by unresolved relational issues passed down the generations. While distance and time may keep families both too busy and disconnected to really be there for you. Support for women b...y women is a powerful beginning to healing. Gathering together in a place of understanding and acceptance, provides support as the first point of healing. It is in relationship we suffer and through relationship that we heal. In therapy, nourishing relational processes of appreciation, understanding and connection are the second point for healing. Therapy offers a space to feel and time to actively explore new thoughts and behaviours. The third force of healing comes as we experiment together with new thoughts and behaviours, exploring our primary relationship to our own mothers. We can begin to dis-entangle from past hurts that have been passed down the generations. And allow the integration and freedom to empower us in our unique success of mothering in this generation. This gift of closure and understanding becomes the gift you also give to the next generation. The need to prove ourselves as mothers is a by-product of a complex changing world. Healing from birth trauma can help to set you free from this, free to be the special unique mother you were destined to be. See more

20.01.2022 Using Hypnotherapy to Treat Depression can Improve Fertility. Depression can often occur by the second to third year of infertility and does not return to normal levels until six years later. Treating depression can improve your fertility. Women with a history of depressive symptoms reported twice the rate of subsequent infertility (Psychosomatic Medicine, 1995, vol. 57) Women with depression, when treated showed a 60 percent viable pregnancy rate within six months, contrasting with 24 percent when depression went untreated. (Journal of American Medical Women’s Association, 1999, vol.54) Women who experienced depression following the failure of their first in vitro fertilization (IVF), had much lower pregnancy rates that their non depressed counterparts during their second IVF cycle (Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 1993, vol. 37)

19.01.2022 Postnatal support In Hypnosis and homeostasis between mother and child,7 the author notes that hypnosis can promote a closer bond between mother and baby. Harmon et al8 reported a reduced incidence of postnatal depression in women who had been taught hypnotic analgesia for childbirth. This suggests that further studies should be undertaken to identify whether those women who had been taught self-hypnosis or hypnotic techniques during pregnancy experienced a reduced incidence of postnatal depression even though no specific suggestions of this kind were introduced into the antenatal sessions. The ability to take oneself away from immediate stressors, and to be able to sleep well during periods of disturbed sleep is obviously beneficial.
