21.01.2022 Thinking good thoughts on World Mental Health Day!

18.01.2022 Some useful tips to help us all manage during this crisis.

16.01.2022 Sharing this again from earlier today: CN: discussion of mental illness, OCD, GAD, suicidal ideation "None of this is easy to talk about. Even though there are... three million Australians living with anxiety and/or depression, we’re still not very good at understanding what it means to be mentally unwell. There’s still too much stigma associated with being mentally ill, and people fear that speaking out will lead to being judged or ostracised. Where mental illness intersects with other discriminations and oppressions, the fear is even more pronounced. I have recovered, mostly, from my most recent decline. But I choose to speak out frequently about my own relationship to mental illness because I think it’s important for others to know they’re not alone." I've written a lot about mental illness and my own relationship with it, but I'm writing about it again today. The more we talk openly about mental illness, the less stigmatised it will be. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone today.

15.01.2022 "The most daunting part of getting that mental health plan was the awareness that I would only get 10 sessions and this voice in my head that said 'that's not g...ood enough, so why bother?'" In Mind's response to the Productivity Commission Inquiry, we suggested people with complex and prolonged mental illness should be able to access visits once a week through Better Access. As our Trajectories research team has found, there are countless examples of people experiencing significant trauma and not accessing psychological supports to help them work through these experiences. Not all these people had a diagnosis, but would have benefited from better access to support services.
