19.01.2022 There is a severe thunderstorm asthma warning out for Victoria today. People with current, past or undiagnosed asthma or hay fever are considered to be at risk.... Having both asthma and hay fever or poorly controlled asthma increases the risk further. Those at risk should: Avoid exposure to any storms that may emerge, especially the wind gusts that precede them Have a reliever appropriately available (as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist) Remind themselves of their asthma action plan and have practical knowledge of the four steps of asthma first aid. On a high risk day the department will issue up-to-date relevant advice and warnings on the VicEmergency warning platform. www.emergency.vic.gov.au *** Never ignore asthma symptoms like breathlessness, wheezing and tightness in the chest. Start Asthma First Aid immediately and call Triple Zero (000) for help if symptoms do not get any better or if they start to get worse.*** Picture from ABC news: abc.net.au

08.01.2022 From 11:59pm on Wednesday, face coverings will be mandatory for everyone aged 12 and over in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire. Victoria's Chief Health ...Officer recommends a fabric mask made of at least three layers or a disposable surgical mask as the most effective ways to cover your face. If you don't have either of those, the experts say a scarf or bandana is still better than nothing. And remember: face coverings are in addition to washing your hands, staying home, and keeping 1.5m from other people when you're in a public place not instead of. Here are some tips.
