22.01.2022 Have you ever asked yourself: Who am I? . Without labelling yourself by your name, your appearance or what you do etc etc... .... Who am I then, if I'm not these external things? . And if I am not them... how do I find my true self? . Well, one way is through YOGA. It helps us navigate through the inner layers of ourselves (that many people don't even know exist!) . 04.01.2022 FUNDS FOR FRIENDS Please meet my dear Indian friends/family- Ramesh & his wife Kiran. They own/manage a delightful home stay in Rishikesh, India where I stayed for 6wks in total (I originally only booked a 10 day stay for before my yoga training began but loved it so much, I stayed after as well)... Ramesh manages the business side of the home stay & Kiran tirelessly prepares 3 meals a day, cleans & of course helps with the family. They have 3 children (2 in high school & 1 at university) all of whom depend on tourists visiting the very popular 'YOGA' city of the Himalayas to keep them going. Their home stay has 6 guest rooms which are normally booked out. All the rooms are very simple but clean & tidy. You don't need much more than that... Ramesh also helps out at a tiny school for underprivileged (very poor) children & I visited there twice throughout my stay. Honestly, I couldn't help but tear up when I looked into these little kids’ eyes & thought, how big this world is & how far they have to go...but how they wouldn't get anywhere if it wasn't for this school, the education & being fed daily. But since Covid hit, like many other parts of the world, Rishikesh has taken a huge back step! People (& some of my other Indian friends there) are really suffering. Businesses have closed, people are going hungry, death & even suicide rates are escalating! I know it hasn't been easy here in Australia but, it's not been bad in comparison to some countries. We are so lucky where we live. The Indian government do not have a social security system so people must be doing it tough!! Without income, I honestly don't know how they're all surviving. The only way I can imagine is through their incredible sense of community & love for their fellow men & women I witnessed a lot of that while I was there & can only hope that the generosity of others is still happening This October, I was due to take a small group over but sadly, because of Covid & travel restrictions, we won't be going (The tour included a 6night stay in Rishikesh & a visit out to Kiran's mountain village) Which we will still do...one day! So, I thought, if I can’t physically get there, I can still help them from afar by donating for food, education & general living expenses. MY PLEDGE IS: In the week Mon 5th - Sat 10th Oct, I will donate $5 from every students’ class fee (that attends a yoga class/es) & transfer it directly PLEASE NOTE: This will be my personal donation, so ANYONE ELSE (not just my yoga students) can donate on top of this amount & it will be accepted with absolute gratitude ANY AMOUNT is appreciated.
