24.01.2022 From the Sanskrit words shiras (head) and dhara (flow), shirodhara is the gentle, constant application of warm oil on the third eye or chakra point just above and between the eyebrows. During a blissful third eye bath, a stream of warm oil from an Indian copper pots slow flowing spout stimulates the third eye chakra point for a period of 30 minutes. When the warm oil is being gently poured on your forehead, it induces a deep state of relaxation, helping to calm the nervou...s system, stimulate the pituitary gland and awakens the third eye. After the third eye stimulation of the oils, the scalp is then massaged. Copper is known to stimulate the flow of energy, detoxify and improve circulation. The ideology of the Shirodhara is to wash away tension from the body and mind, giving a sense of clarity of thoughts which naturally helps to ease physical and mental fatigue giving renewal to the body from the inside out.

It’s comprised of you...r anatomy and physiology and the central goal is embodiment. When we truly inhabit our bodies, we have heightened perception, we develop greater awareness, which allows us to make dietary and lifestyle choices that nourish us. Embodiment leads us to greater self acceptance, self love and self care. Because the annamaya kosha is the only body that we can physically see and touch, we want to think of exercises or practices that nourish our every being, inside and out. This could be anything from resting, to consuming healthy foods, a skin care routine, exercising, getting outdoors, and/or connecting with nature. Practices such as root chakra focused yoga, breathwork, self massage (abhyanga), sex and anything else that creates connection with your tangible physical form will help to awaken or sustain the wellbeing of this energetic body.

21.01.2022 For those who are new around here, let me introduce you to this 17.5 pounds of pure deliciousness - Arnhem Rose... 9 months ago began maternity leave, as our baby girl joined us earth side. For the first time in years, I didn’t have a million projects on the go at once, just 1 Job; the most important and most rewarding one I’ve had to date! I’m incredibly fortunate to be in a position where I’m able to take a complete step back from my work and focus all my energy and time in...to her and our little family. In the last few months I have been working with a few clients here and there, I’ve continued to experiment in the kitchen, releasing a few ebooks and furthering my education in children’s nutrition. I am looking forward to returning to clinic and the mat officially by mid year. Time is our most precious commodity, as it is the only thing we can’t get back and/or obtain more of, so I’m truly grateful to all of you who have continued to follow/ remain engaged in my work whilst I enjoy this special time with my small family.

15.01.2022 ATTENTION Beautiful Mamas & Mamas to be! I’ve received quite a lot of enquiries regarding mums n bubs yoga classes over the last week and I need gather some mor...e detail before adding one to the timetable. With a mums & bubs yoga class, the child’s age really determines how this class can run. For mums with bubs ( that aren’t on the move ) This post natal yoga class is specifically designed to help get your body back into gentle movement, strengthening and stretching, all while your little one will get some important gross motor exercise with baby-friendly exercise and fun. It’s also a great way to connect with other mums who share similar interests. For mums with grubs ( your baby or toddler who is on the move and super active I’ve got one of these) - This type of class really requires 2 adults to facilitate the class and a designated play area for the children. As much as my little one loves climbing on/under me and copying what I do in yoga, she also just as likely to run off and do her own thing midway through. If this sounds like you, then keep in mind this class will still be a ‘relaxed friendly environment’ where noisey, settled, unsettled, sleeping, feeding babies/toddlers are all welcomed. There will be a large play circle created in the centre of the studio where the bubs/toddlers can play, however it will be your responsibility to keep a close eye on your little person and tend to them if needed. We’ll be working our way through a slow yoga flow, and working on finding our calm amongst that environment. Little ones can also join in.. At this point, the health hunter yoga studio will not have a baby crèche, so if you have been interested in mums and bubs classes please read the above and let me know which is most suited to you! 15.01.2022 Garshana: Detoxify at Home with Ayurvedic Skin Brushing The Garshana is a traditional Ayurvedic dry massage that refreshes and stimulates the skin and lymphatic system, enhancing blood circulation and the release of accumulated toxins. To perform a garshana, you will need a dry body brush that is can gently remove dead skin layers leaving the skin supple and glowing.... The ideal time to dry brush is in the morning before you shower, so that you can rinse off the impurities loosened by the massage. Follow these steps to perform the Garshana traditional Ayurvedic dry massage: Massage your entire body, excluding your face, chest, and heart. Avoid sensitive areas and anywhere the skin is broken or inflamed. Use circular strokes on the stomach and joints (shoulders, elbows, knees, wrists, hips, and ankles), and long sweeping strokes on the arms and legs. Apply light pressure where the skin is thin, such as the underarms, and harder pressure where the skin is thicker, such as the soles of the feet. The direction of the stroke should always be toward your heart as this helps drain lymph back to your heart. Massage from your feet upward, continuing up to your torso and on to your neck. Also massage from the hands to the shoulders. Continue for at least five minutes. Complete your Garshana with a shower. To enhance the release of toxins, end with a few cycles of hot then cold water. First turn the water to as hot as you can take it for several seconds, then to as cold as you can tolerate, then back to hot, and so on. This will stimulate the blood circulation and further invigorate the skin.

It's the best way to counter the impact of pollution indoors, particularly if you have a family member with some respiratory illness. Salt lamps are another great natural air purifier. "Salt crystal products tend to reduce airborne irritants, pathogens and allergens by pulling water vapour out of the air. 05.01.2022 Like anything of substance, living a mindful life isn't easy. It takes attention, skill and discipline. It takes starting where you are as you are, with kindness and acceptance. For the most part, I can do this. But every now and again something can knock me off kilter - take for example: going away on holiday, getting sick and major life events ( such as opening a new business ). The last couple of weeks have been a bloody whirlwind and although grateful for everything I’...ve experienced in that time ( brother getting married, holidaying and opening my dream yoga studio ) I haven’t been as disciplined as what I usually am, and whilst I’m not beating myself up over it, I’ve been pretty keen to get back into routine. I love me some spontaneity, but if I’m perfectly honest, deep down I really am a structured kind of gal. While limiting interactions and setting boundaries in life may sound boring to some, this actually creates so much more freedom for me. This lunar phase offers an opportunity to (for lack of better terms) get shit done, and so this week I’ve been focused on nurturing myself and my family back to good health through what I would call daily rituals. For us this looks like 28minutes of HIT upon waking, oil massage (abhyanga) , daily yoga, walking outdoors, meditation, and flooding the body with some much needed nutrients. @oftheearthbargara juice cleanse has been staring me in the face/screen for a week now, and full disclaimer: had I not of previously owned a juice cleanse business and had the equipment, I’d be hitting my pal Brooke up for one. Juice cleanses are an awesome way to flood the body with nutrients, give your body a bit of a break from digestion and is far more enjoyable than taking supplements. Being pregnant I’ve still needed to include some solid foods, but if you aren’t baking a human I highly recommend doing yourself a solid and going liquid the whole time , that and abstaining from coffee. Between this, hello fresh dinners at night, and incorporating our other rituals back into our day I’m finally feeling like myself again. Sometimes all it takes is having something prepared and laid out for you; just to help you back on track, then it becomes second nature. There are so many great people/ things out there that can help you establish rituals or discipline, but the first step has to be taken from you. I’ll include some of my favourite helping hands in my next post that may or may not ( different stoke for different folk) help you create your own daily rituals or help you cultivate more discipline in your life.
