24.01.2022 Congratulations to Alexis who smashed her 5km PB by over 2minutes in a time of 27:06. The most amazing thing about this is Alexis woke up this morning with a bit of a cold (not COVID) She was tempted to rest which maybe she should have but instead decided to run and just see how she feels. She didn’t look at her watch the whole way and came away with a massive 2minute PB which make me think imagine if she was feeling good. Alexis has learnt so much, like not over training and how important recovery and nutrition is. I have a feeling we will be see lots of other great results to come from Alexis.

23.01.2022 Huge congratulations to Shane Wilson who recorded a 1min & 12sec half marathon PB today at the Geelong Half Marathon in a fantastic time of 1hr & 40mins & 58sec. Even more amazing about Shane’s result is that he did the Geelong Half marathon 2 years ago and he achieved his goal of breaking 2hrs for the first time in 1:58:48, so in 2 years has cut off 18minutes. Shane has been following a weekly running program from myself and it paid off big time today as he stuck to the rac...e plan perfectly. Shane has an exciting year ahead fitness wise with the plan of doing his first ever Melbourne Marathon in October.

22.01.2022 Thursday was our session of LIVE zoom sessions so I’m offering everyone 4 weeks of recorded sessions (12 sessions) as I’m on holidays from the 25th of December to the 18th of January for only $50.

22.01.2022 HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Ben Doak who completed today's Geelong 70.3 Half Ironman Triathlon which is a 1.9km swim, 90km ride and 21km run. Ben has been training with the Healthier Life group for quite a few years now and at on of our recent PT sessions last year mentioned he was thinking about doing the Geelong Half Ironman. This was a shock to me as Ben had never done any triathlon training with us in the past. I also knew that it wouldn't be an issue as Ben is a pretty good... swimmer and runner and just needed to do some bike kms. Ben did his first triathlon session with our triathlon group in October and started following a weekly triathlon program from myself to build up his kms safely to get the job done today. We also made a race and nutrition plan for Ben and he followed it perfectly apart from losing a toe nail on the run which he had to stop and tape it up. Things like this happen in longer distance events and sometimes you can just be unlucky. Overall Ben did a GREAT job and finished in a time of 6hrs and 16mins and it's now time to recovery and get ready for some more exciting news in their family life with Yaz.
21.01.2022 Thanks so much to the Healthier Life group for the lovely text msgs over the last few weeks, that they are so glad to be back training in the group and feeling safe. Im giving it my all to keep our environment clean, no shared equipment and social distance which should make everyone safe. Is anyone missing our group session and feel like its time for a comeback?

20.01.2022 Im very excited to see that we have over 25 people ready to take on the Healthier Life Running Festival. Are you lacking motivation to get out and exercise during these strange covid times.Well I have something to help you get fitness mojo back up and going. I have organised a Healthier Life Running Festival month for anyone who is following a weekly online running program designed by myself. ... The running program cost $15 a week and is for beginners to elite with weekly feedback and advice so you will be at your peak to break a PB, do achieve a distance you have never done before or even to just keep you accountable. You then you have 5 weeks to have a crack at which ever distance you would like or you can do multiple distances during that 5 weeks. I have designed this as a replace for the Melbourne Marathon Festival and Run Geelong event as I dont think they will go ahead. Who would like to join us or know someone that might?
19.01.2022 Huge congratulations to these 4 Healthier Life STARS who did the Great Ocean Road festival virtual fun run. @_willo_ smashed his half marathon PB time by 11mins in a fantastic time of 1hr 47mins. @robyntigani did her biggest ever run of 6kms and ran the while way and fastest ever kilometre. @ostojic.alex also recorded a new half fastest marathon time with a 13min PB with a time of 1hr 43mins. Andrew also smashed out a fantastic half marathon time of 1hr 38mins, which he was r...apt as he hasnt gone under 1hr 40mins for years. There is a common theme with all 4 of these guys and why they all recorded awesome results today. Its because they are dedicated to their training and they are following a weekly online running program from myself. 18.01.2022 I my job so much and even more when I woke up to this photo and the message this morning below which just brought a HUGE smile to my face. Half Marathon PB dropped from 1:58:46 to 1:47:04!!!! I'm absolutely stoked, thanks heaps Brent for everything and your help. My fitness and running has come along in leaps and bounds the last 6 months since you've been looking after me Shane ran in 4oC temperatures this morning for the the Great Ocean Road virtual fun run and SMASH...ED his goal of recording a new half marathon PB!!! Shane is an absolute pleasure to coach with his weekly online running program as he is a sponge for information and really wants to tick every box and gives it his all with his training, recovery and even weight-loss. Shane has lost 8kgs over the last 6months since we had a chat about losing a few more unwanted kilograms as it would help his recovery and to move faster which has paid off BIG time as he is now currently the lightest he has been in 15years. I have loved seeing his transformation in body, mind and his overall running endurance and speed. I cant wait to see him smash his ultimate goal of doing his first ever marathon this year at the Melbourne marathon festival.
18.01.2022 Some good news this week for the fitness world with groups of 20 people allowed outside in public space. We are doing Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6am and have two spots available in both groups. $10 per person for an hour session of running and weights. Please let me know ASAP if you would like to grab one of these spots before the classes are FULL.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Tiff who did todays Mothers Day 7.3km fun run in 1hr and 6mins in tough conditions which is also TIFFs biggest ever fun run. I think it's a fantastic idea for fitness events to have virtual fun runs like this and still award medals for finishing and getting people to hand in their times and receive their placings to keep people motivated. Have you got an event you are going to train for this year to help with training motivation and if so which event is it?

15.01.2022 Awesome stuff from Robyn who did todays Great Ocean Road virtual 6km fun run. Robyn has been following an online weekly running program over the last 6 weeks to help with building a bigger running base and controlling her running pace so she could run the whole way without any walking breaks. Well this paid off BIG time today with her running the whole way with the 6kms and recording to new running PBs with her fastest ever km and longest run. The best part of this is she felt good while doing it, stuck to the HR plan and her pace was consistent the whole way and finished feeling comfortable. She is amazed that by controlling her pace and heart rate that she wasnt struggling and was an awesome feeling.

14.01.2022 How time flys when you do something you LOVE as I have for the last 20 years, as I started Healthier Life group and personal training in 2001!! I did the VIC FIT course after round the world trip oversea when I was 25 years old and decided I needed to do something I was interested in when I got back. Group or personal training wasn’t really a thing back in 2001 in Geelong and it all started with these guys from the Oberon High school before I started advertising to do other g...roup sessions. I’m going to try and do a weekly Friday flashback photo or memory with things from our Healthier Life group over the last 20 years so if anyone has any old photos or memories I would love for you to send it to me Thanks Brent

10.01.2022 What an AWESOME effort from Virginia Thomson this morning at 6:30am as she smashed out a 5km time trial at Landy Field in a fantastic time of 24:47. We have been doing a weekly track session over the last few months and it paid off BIG time today as she hasnt run at that pace for at least 5 years. I seeing my clients get results like this when they have put in the hard work to reach a certain fitness goal.

08.01.2022 Great stuff by this zoom group with tonights leg workout. Im so glad I found zoom as I always said I would never do online training compared to face to face training. This has made a lot of clients happy as they have been able to train at home and do the sessions whenever it suits them.

08.01.2022 So today was our last 7am group holiday workout and we will be back to our normal group session times. We will be back at Eastern beach for our Monday & Wednesday night groups at 6:15pm during daylight savings. Our morning sessions will be on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday morning at 6am at 114 noble st Newtown. Our Friday 9:30am group will start back once the kids go back to school. 07.01.2022 How are you with recognising different types of things with your body?
07.01.2022 I have heard from a lot of people who are struggling with motivation since COVID arrived in Australia. Well if its a fitness thing then you should join the FREE virtual Gold Coast Running Festival this month as its a great thing to get your running mojo back and maybe push yourself out of your comfort zone. I personally have been quite strict over this period with my food, building up to 21kms of running and doing my zoom weights with the Healthier Life group but I really ...havent done much speed running training and thats why todays 5km effort on my 21km run hurt and its why I was nowhere near my 5km PB time. Its good to get a wake up call like this to make you get back to doing the things that you know make you feel good. I have told myself that I will continue to have a crack each Saturday morning now to beat what I did today and add a speed running session during the week and see what happens time wise. The reason I wanted to share this story is to help motivate anyone who reads this as I dont think there are too many people at their peak right now. If you want to feel good about yourself you need to make some changes now rather than wait for covid to disappear as we really dont know how far away that could be. Dont wait for tomorrow or next week as it will never arrive, just make one small change today and once you have ticked that off then look to the next thing. You can do it!!
06.01.2022 Congratulations to Nicole Davenport who smashed a new 5km PB today in a fantastic time of 20:19. Nicole is one of our most talented runners and when she follows a Healthier Life running plan anything’s is possible for her. Nicole is like a lot of runners and thinks more is better but she has now learnt that it’s quality not quantity the helps you to achieve awesome results. She has had a lot on her plate over the last year but knows exercise and following a plan makes her fe...eling better and helps her reach her true potential. I can’t wait to see what else this talented runner can achieve as I still think she has more room for improvement with her results.
06.01.2022 I received an email 12 weeks ago from Shaun Keating who was an old footy mate from Barwon Heads football club that he wanted me to help him. Shaun wanted my help with a online running program as he kept getting injured when running by going too fast and his body felt fatigued which was basically making him feel shit about himself. Well in 12 weeks Shaun has totally changed what he was doing and is running times he never were possible. On the weekend Shaun recorded a 10km run... PB with a fantastic time of 42:23. He has learnt so much already from the running program and it’s not all about more is better and that you need to do easy and faster runs and have rest days in between. Shaun also mentioned to me he wanted to drop a few kilograms to help make him feel healthier and after 11th weeks of the Metabolic Jumpstart eating plan he has loss of 8.1kgs and is the lightest he has been in a long time. In Shaun’s own words I now feeling fricken awesome, which makes me a better dad and husband! He is loving the running so much that the local football comeback may not happen now as he is thinking he will enter some different fitness events next year and really pushing himself and I can’t wait to see what he will achieve.

Laura did the 14km event in 1hr 10mins Alex did the 23km run in 1hr 59mins as did Ellie in 2hrs 9mins & Jason in 2hrs 1min. These type of virtual fun runs are a great way to keep us motivated and it gives you something to aim for over these strange covid times.
03.01.2022 Im so glad some of the guys who are part of our Healthier Life online weekly running program took my advice of having a crack at the FREE Gold Coast virtual fun runs. We have had so many amazing results with 5 of our crew: Jacinta, Amanda, Penny, David & Laura all recording new personal best times with their runs over the weekend. Andrews running speed keeps getting faster, Mel pumped out a 10km run which she hasnt done for a long time and Susan half marathon time is cur...rently the 3rd best time in her age group. 01.01.2022 I strongly believe that it is unlikely that this years Melbourne marathon festival will go ahead in October this year with our current covid cases. If Melbourne marathon doesnt do a virtual event like the Gold Coast Running Festival have done this month who would be interested in following a plan to do a 5km, 10km, 21km or 42km run locally by themselves to test themselves out to try to record a new personal best time for a certain distance? If so what distance would you like to have a crack at recording a new PB?
01.01.2022 What an awesome testimonial from a VERY talented runner in Jimmy Dalton who recently pumped out a 1hr & 17min half marathon. A few years ago my family and work commitments increased meaning something had to give in my lifestyle and my 100km running weeks had to go. I stopped running altogether for a little while and found that I missed it. I wanted to start running again albeit at less kms but with similar outcomes if that was at all possible. I contacted Brent and let him k...now my family/work situation and whether or not he could write me a running program to suit. After a year with Brent I couldn't be happier with the outcomes of following his running program. It fits in perfectly with my work and family commitments and I am still running at a competitive age group level on the local scene. This is all with less hours and kms of running. Brent allocates my program at the beginning of each week taking into account my work schedule and makes each session count. Its a quality not quantity based program that is Heart Rate specific and I am really happy with the results. I look forward to my rest days and find the balance just perfect for me.
