25.01.2022 UPDATE on the Phone! Our phone is now working to receive and make calls, but at this stage, our voicemail system is still down. We will keep you updated, thank you for understanding. Thanks, Kirby.

24.01.2022 Today is Do it for Dolly Day, and here at Health Nest we really value and encourage kindness to all. This day is a special day. A day to be reminded that unkind behaviour can affect people, like Dolly. Lets all get behind this great initiative - what will you do today to spread some kindness?

24.01.2022 This might actually be the perfect summer splint! Bright, happy and full of fun! A great addition to any broken finger, or sore joint! These are custom made to fit your finger, in no time at all... no waiting..... no worries if your swelling goes down because you can tighten the velcro strapping so it fits to the shape of your finger well. if you are hanging around in a big backslab plaster (you know the ones.... hot, sweaty, itchy, heavy!!)... and you want a lighter optio...n that allows you to use your hand whilst still safely protecting your injury.... you might like one of our splints - and they come in a range of colours if you are not the polkadot kind of person! Make a time to come and see on of our therapists.... trained specifically in assessing and treating hand and wrist injuries. www.healthnest.com.au or phone us on 03 6338 1880 See more

22.01.2022 Thank you to all the amazing clients who came along to our first lymphoedema clinic last Friday. It was wonderful to meet you all and know that our clinic will be of help to many people.

22.01.2022 Who remembers back in July when we got inducted into the Employer of Choice honor roll. This meant an incredible amount of happiness to us. Here is Kirby and Amy proudly holding our certificate we have proudly now hung our certificate in our reception area. Keep an eye out for our Employer of Choice logo that we will be featuring in our correspondence coming up.

18.01.2022 Are you a therapist looking for a change? Wondering if the grass is greener on the other side? Or have a niggling thought in the back of your mind that you want something different? Maybe the leap feels a bit scary. We get that. It can be a life changing event to move jobs and we can support you to take that leap! We are looking for two therapists who are feeling like they might be brave enough to challenge themselves to something new and who want to live down here in beautif...ul Tasmania - it really is something special. If you are thinking of a career change, enhancing your current skills, having a better work-life relationship, or are keen to take on a role that you can make your own..... we would love you to consider applying for one of our positions. Not sure if you have the skills? Don't let that put you off - we can train you! For more information, click on the link here: https://www.healthnest.com.au/work-with-us See more

18.01.2022 If you want polka dots then polka dots it is! We are loving this polka dot finger splint made for a broken finger. The straps make it easy to remove for exercise, which helps prevent stiffness following an injury. Not all broken fingers can start exercise or movement straight away, so give us a call if you are unsure.

15.01.2022 With so much change occurring in such a short space of time, I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that we are still open, as usual, to look after you. The Governments directive over the weekend does not apply to hand therapy clinics and we have been encouraged by the Government to remain open so you can continue to receive the care you need. If youre working from home, concerned about traveling in, or would prefer to see us remotely, we are fully operational... for video appointments and have been running these successfully for some time. For more information on this, please visit our website page: https://www.healthnest.com.au/online-appts Alternatively, please feel free to give us a call at any time to talk to your therapist about whats the best way to approach things given the current disruption. Also, I just want to reassure you that we are following all the Department of Health directives to ensure a safe space at our clinics for you and our staff. Our commitment to be there for you through this period of disruption is unwavering, so please dont hesitate to call on us any time. Amy Geach (Founder and CEO)

10.01.2022 We are feeling super grateful for the treats we received today. A lovely random act of kindness. Thank you to our anonymous gifter

09.01.2022 Why would this fact be important? When we have an injury or experience pain, over time if those symptoms persist, our cortex starts to change. The brain is a fascinating thing over time, it can switch off areas of the cortex that are dedicated to an injured arm or hand which makes it harder to recover or move into pain-free use of your hand and wrist. We know all about this and train to help you not only get the right hand and wrist exercises but also the right brain exercises so your cortex stays active and healthy during your injury.

09.01.2022 One of the best ways to prevent infection in the body is to keep the skin healthy. When skin becomes dry and cracked, it is fragile. Fragile skin breaks easily and allows an entry point for bacteria to enter. Keeping hands healthy is a great way to protect your body

09.01.2022 We are looking for someone pretty amazing... We are looking for someone who is hard-working, a delight to be around, and someone who is friendly and honest. Are you our missing person? Click on the link to apply. ... https://www.healthnest.com.au/work-with-us See more

08.01.2022 Today we are open in our new location.... we are now at 85 Elphin Road, Newstead. We are on the corner of College Street and Elphin Road. Hope to see you all soon. This morning we are unpacking and testing phones etc!

08.01.2022 It is here! The new decade! So strange to say that.... welcome to 2020. We wish all our clients, supporters and friends a great new year. May you get great outcomes and get to do the things you love.

07.01.2022 WE DONT LIKE THIS SPLINT!!! It is an oh no moment for people when they come in and realise the splint they were given by someone that was not custom made, was not fitting well and their finger tendon has not healed...so..... they have to start the process all over again! This can happen for a mallet injury. A mallet injury occurs when there is an injury to the tip of the finger. Either the tendon that straightens the tip joint of your finger breaks, or it pulls away with a... small piece of bone. A splint for 6-8 weeks is needed to heal the finger tip. We often have people turn up in these stack splints but they are not ideal for treating this.... and our blog below explains why. Our alternative is a custom moulded plastic splint that we heat and mould around the tip of your finger - along with all the tips and advice you need to manage the injury to get a great outcome. If you experience this injury or know someone who has..... we recommend the custom fitted splint! https://www.healthnest.com.au//3reasonswhystacksplintsaren See more

06.01.2022 Having an injury can be stressful.... sometimes it is hard to know what is going on, what is causing pain and what to do about it. We know hand and wrist injuries like the back of our own hands..... we treat people who have hand and wrist pain or injuries every day - it is our thing! We love it and we love helping people get the knowledge they need to feel confident, and get a great outcome.

05.01.2022 Want to come and work at Health Nest with us? We are looking for a lymphoedema therapist to join us and become part of our new lymphoedema clinic launching soon. 02.01.2022 We are pleased under the governments essential services, we can continue to remain open for our clients who need casts, splints, wound checks and therapy for hand and wrist injuries. We are following all the precautions and making sure our space is safe for you (and us!). If you need us, we are here. You can come in for a face to face appt, or........ we are doing online consultations as an alternative if you are not keen to be out and about, are vulnerable and are self isolating, or you like the idea of therapy from the comfort of your home. Reach out if you have a question. We are here to help.

01.01.2022 We are all thinking of everyone affected by fires across this country... residents, families, friends, animals, SES crews, , volunteers, firefighters...... everyone. Hoping for safety for everyone. If you are wondering how you can help from afar, this is a great article outlining how to help those in need now and in the future.

01.01.2022 This weekend we are moving..... just a stones throw away to a place with more space, and in particular BETTER PARKING!!!! We look forward to welcoming you to our new rooms.
