23.01.2022 From 1 July 2019 the Shared Debt Recovery Scheme commenced following the Federal Government to hold both a practitioner and another party responsible to pay back debts that arise from inappropriate claims on Medicare. The ‘other party’ could very easily be the owner of a health practice. The Department of Health can conduct post-payment Medicare compliance audits.
