25.01.2022 Getting needled~ . So very grateful to receive a quick treatment for my painful shoulder by Dr. Wei Chieh Yang at the Tung’s acupuncture seminar! . Being an acupuncturist, needling oneself isn’t the easiest thing sometimes! One for the challenging locations of certain treatment points on the body; two for the nervous anticipation of pain at the moment of insertion... This makes me appreciate how my patients may feel when they first walks into the clinic!... . Acupuncture despite sounding a little scary, is indeed very safe. While receiving treatment, people commonly experience some kind of distension or achy feeling at the needling sites. This occurs usually when the practitioner attempts to manipulate the needle in order to stimulate the circulating Qi or channel energy. Be reassured that the sensation is only temporary and causes no harm to the body (only benefits)! . Any further questions, feel free to leave comments below! Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone~ @ Jasper Hotel Melbourne See more

23.01.2022 Watch out for drastic weather changes at times of seasonal transition. . Drafty wind often carries with it elements of cold, hot, dry or humid air. These can attack our exterior and become pathogenic roots of internal illnesses when our righteous (healthy fencing) Qi is weak. . Stay centered and calm. Keep active and positive. Walk the middle path and find good balance. These practices help us to sustain health by providing abundant energy and resisting invasion of all ...evils! . Have a wind proof weekend, everyone! 08.01.2022 *Why is our Yang Qi so vital? . The Yang Qi of the body is like the heavenly energy of the sun. It surrounds the earth which corresponds to our physical core, and is the source of our ultimate life force . It also circulates the body’s exterior and acts as the walls in a house to protect the body against all external evils such as wind, cold, dampinvasion. . If the sun loses its brilliance or illuminating effect, all things on earth becomes inactive. The body becom...es vulnerable to external pathogenic attacks. . During winter, it is important that we conserve our body’s Yang Qi by containing our impulsive emotions such as anger and irritability; keeping ourselves dry and warm; and avoiding cold and uncooked foods/drinks. . Stay well everyone and smile like the sunshine! . *reference: The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Medicine by Maoshing Ni See more

03.01.2022 *Wondering how Chinese Medicine maybe different? . The origins of Chinese herbal medicine can be traced back at least 5,000 years in history. It takes a holistic approach to health and focuses as much on prophylactic care as the treatment of disease. . Most illnesses present with a core set of recognisable signs and symptoms, but the actual clinical presentation may vary with individuals. For this reason, people with similar health conditions maybe offered quite different C...hinese herbal medicine prescriptions. . A qualified TCM practitioner will prescribe a Chinese herbal formula specifically prepared for your own condition. This formula is normally modified and tailored to suit individual needs during the recovery period until the desirable outcomes are achieved. . The herbal formulas may be provided in different forms - pills, granules, raw herb decoction and liquid extracts. . Any questions about your health concerns and how Chinese herbal medicine may help you, consult a qualified TCM practitioner . Enjoy the rest of the week, everyone! See more

02.01.2022 What is Yin Yang . Most are probably not unfamiliar with the term. It is one of the fundamental concepts in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). . Yin & Yang are two halves that together complete the wholeness. ... They are seemingly opposite forces that are actually interdependent and complementary to each other. . The Yin Yang phenomena can be observed in the world of nature and within all life forms . Yin is the relatively more calm, inert, shadowed and cool energy than Yang; whereas Yang is the relatively more vibrant, active, brighter and warm energy than Yin. . For example, the day/sun is relatively more Yang than the night/moon. The still water in the pond is relatively more Yin than the flowing water in the river. The nurturing feminine energy is relatively more Yin than the materialistic or ‘in action’ masculine energy. . Nevertheless, the energy of Yin and Yang are dynamic and interchangeable. For instance, when a person wakes and rises in the morning, he/she is said to be shifting from a Yin (rested) to a Yang (lively) physical state. When someone is able to settle their burst of anger to a calmer mind, he/she is said to be transforming from a Yang to a Yin emotional state. . In TCM, a healthy life is achieved by attaining Yin Yang balance in both our internal and external environment. If our Yin Yang energy is in a harmonious state, we will feel a general sense of wellbeing . Let’s all work towards a more balanced and healthy life~ See more
