09.01.2022 SCRIPT TIP TUESDAY! We are well and truly into the time of the year that a lot of customers are reaching their Safety Net Threshold. What is the safety net threshold?... If you are a general patient and spend over $1486.80 in a calendar year scripts are reduced to $6.60 and if you are a Concession/Repat patient and spend over $316.80 scripts in a calendar year they become free. This excludes any additional brand premiums that we talked about last week. PLEASE NOTE: No pharmacy computers are linked when it comes to your Safety Net total. If you go to one pharmacy their computer will notify them when you reach your Safety Net, if you go to multiple pharmacies you will need to get one of the cards pictured below and ask for the Safety Net sticker. Please show it every time you are getting a script. Next week we will go into what can be done if you go over your Safety Net :)

07.01.2022 SCRIPT TIP TUESDAY! Is there a missing link to your Safety Net? When it comes to reaching your Safety Net make sure you are linked to your loved ones in your pharmacys computer system, as the yearly total is counted between you. Medicare defines family members that can be linked as a couple who are legally married, or in a defacto relationship. Your children can also be linked if they are classed as dependant, this means, under 16 years of age or student dependant aged between 16-25 years who is in full time education.

Eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders living with or at risk of chronic disease have access to low cost or free Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines. They can access these through the Closing the Gap (CTG) To grant the benefits to a registered patient, prescribers must put a CTG code on the patients prescription. It will have either an automated code or a manual code. If an eligible patient doesnt have a CTG PBS prescription, patient...s should refer back to their prescriber as it will be processed as a standard script. Hospital generated prescriptions can not be CTG

06.01.2022 SCRIPT TIP TUESDAY Safety Net Refunds. If you do go to multiple pharmacies and you go over your safety net threshold the cost of those items in excess of the limit cannot be refunded by the pharmacy. You have to apply for the refund using the paperwork pictured below, and attach a Prescription Record Form (PRF). The paper work and the PRF you can get from your Pharmacy, if you go to multiple pharmacies you will need multiple PRFs. You can then take the paperwork into Medicare yourself, or give it to the Pharmacy to send in. The PBS patient refunds are then paid via electronic funds transfer (EFT) to your Medicare nominated bank account. If you have any more questions or are worried that you may have gone over your safety net, please come and speak to our team in store, we are more than happy to help you out.
