23.01.2022 What a great day to come together and celebrate Christmas with an amazing staff lunch. We also acknowledged several staff who have this year celebrated between 10 & 20 years of service with Healthscope which is a testament to not only the amazing teams at RPH but also shows the commitment and dedication of our staff. Lastly we have created an incredible recipe book with beautiful recipes from staff across all departments of the hospital. Well done Ringwood Private Hospital staff for another year of caring for our community. Merry Christmas to everyone

21.01.2022 Many Australians will remember the ‘Sid the Seagull’ campaign from the 1980s which launched the ‘Slip, Slop, Slap’ message. Some things have changed since then but our sun is still the same. In Australia, data shows that people aged 25-44 are the most likely to get sunburnt outside at peak times and are the group least likely to use shade when it's available. So as National Skin Cancer Action Week comes to an end we remind you of the importance of staying SunSmart. By using sun protection and preventing sunburn and skin damage you are reducing your risk of skin cancer including potentially deadly melanoma. So remember to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide.

19.01.2022 Thrombosis is the formation of a blood clot in a blood vessel. The vessel may be any vein or artery as for example, in a deep vein thrombosis (venous) or a coronary artery (arterial). The clot itself is called a thrombus. Once formed, a clot can slow or block normal blood flow, and even break loose and travel to an organ. A clot that travels to the circulation is called an embolism. Thrombosis is the often preventable underlying pathology of heart attack, thromboembolic strok...e, and venous thromboembolism (VTE), the top three cardiovascular killers. World Thrombosis Day (WTD) is an annual, global initiative to reduce death and disability from thrombosis, which kills one in four people worldwide. Through education and advocacy, WTD seeks to raise awareness of the causes, risk factors, signs/symptoms and evidence-based prevention and treatment of thrombosis among the public and health professionals alike. WTD is recognized every year on 13 October, the birthday of Rudolf Virchow, a German physician and pathologist who first developed and advanced the concept of thrombosis. Don't wait until tomorrow, open your eyes to thrombosis today.
