23.01.2022 DAY 7 MOBILITY CHALLENGE Today is all about shoulder & rotator cuff maintenance & care. Your rotator cuff muscles are the dynamic stabilizes of the shoulder joint, the muscles are your supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor & subscapularis.... Using a trigger ball you can spend time on the scapular (shoulder blade) softening these musculature structures as well as in a "footy tackle" position through a doorway or against a pole getting into the upper trap, providing softening of the upper trap & supraspinatus muscles. 15.01.2022 DAY 8 MOBILITY CHALLENGE Floss bands. There is no conclusive scientific evidence that voodoo floss bands work, however, you can try and see for yourself. I love using them on my ankles, knees, elbows and shoulder joints. I personally find it decreases joint stiffness, increase joint range of motion and just makes the area feel great.... Common theory: Compressing a joint or muscle group with the voodoo floss band improves local blood flow and circulation by temporarily restricting blood flow to the area. When the band is taken off a fresh supply of blood rushes into the area to aid in healing and recovery. 08.01.2022 DAY 11 MOBILITY CHALLENGE Trigger ball (lacrosse ball) into the side of your hips targeting the TFL (tensor fascia lat), gluteus medius and gluteus minimus. Lay in your side, place the ball under your hip and allow your bodyweight to apply the pressure down onto the ball. Aim to find a tight band of muscle and hold in that position, try not to use vigorous movement as it can create tissue damage and bruising.... Once you are holding on the tight band of muscle take a few deep breaths, as you exhale try to let the ball sink into your muscle a little bit deeper, or your body to sink down & around the ball more. The tight muscles will begin to relax & feel more supple with a decrease in pain. Once this happens, ease your body off the ball & hunt around for another tight band to release.
