24.01.2022 HEALTHY CITIES ONKAPARINGA
20.01.2022 We have been invited to help Palliative Care SA look at the issue of Death Literacy Just wondering what folks know about Compassionate Communities? Apparently Compassionate communities support people at end of life and their families in many ways. They care for people, assist people to live in their homes, connect people to services, raise awareness about end of life issues and develop the capacity of others in the community.... Compassionate communities are a core part of public health approaches to palliative care, end of life care and bereavement. The term was coined by Allan Kellehear in the mid-2000s to describe communities which play a much stronger role in the care of people at end of life and their families and carers through illness, dying, death and bereavement. FYI - I have attached a rather interesting pdf and an example how Sunshine coast created a Compassionate community. Please pop in and let us know if you'd be interested in hearing more about this? https://palliativecare.org.au//An-implementation-guide-for

Finally, a short workshop on water security asked participants about their views on this topic in Onkaparinga and some priority actions for HCO in our next major project.
