20.01.2022 Travelling with kids allows them to be more adaptable to changing situations and more flexible in their habits. They get used to sleeping anywhere, airports, Ubers, aeroplanes etc. Travel has also helped to ensure they aren’t picky eaters and they’ll give all foods a try (even if it’s just a nibble).

17.01.2022 Looking for ways to keep the kids entertained! Turn a bookcase/ table into a shop. Excitement levels were running high. Together they worked out what they wanted to sell in their shop, the price of items, signs (not all spelt correctly, as my eldest son liked to tell his brother in Prep who was trying his hardest to spell closed klosd). In this activity they were covering literacy (writing signs) maths (writing numbers, adding, using money, giving change) Oral language (greeting each other, asking questions what would you like to buy today?) the list goes on. Most importantly they were playing together and having fun! 16.01.2022 I thought I’d share our families ritual as it’s a special part of our day, but even more important at times like these. Every night at the dinner table we light a candle (4 times) before eating. We each take turns saying 3 or more things we are grateful for. Our kids hold the candle, I find that when they are looking at the flame it really helps them to focus. At the end of their go they blow out the candle and pass it to the next person. No one can interrupt or talk while s...omeone is saying their gratitudes. It’s a nice time to hear about each others day and for them to hear what we are grateful for. 16.01.2022 While getting breakfast organised this morning I also made what would normally be their school lunch, Brain Food and snack for the day. This will not only save me hearing I’m hungry all day and being in and out of the kitchen. But it also means the kitchen is all cleaned until dinner. 13.01.2022 Our Trunki is an absolute life saver when travelling. It’s a ride on hand luggage suitcase that’s easy to pull along especially through airports. 11.01.2022 Las Vegas with kids!! Wow, I’ll admit it was a little eye opening on the first day as our kids had no choice but to walk through the actual casino to get to their hotel room. Vegas was honestly like taking an around the world trip in a few blocks. Most landmarks are like a replica of the original. The kids saw the Eiffel Tower, a pyramid, watched people riding the gondolas in Venice, the Statue of Liberty, the Trevi Fountain, the list goes on (so many questions and learning) ...Every hotel had its own theme to see from water shows to life like erupting volcanos. There was no doubt about it that the bright lights on the slot machines and noises definitely intrigued our 6 year old!! It was a great opportunity to have the discussion on how easily it is to lose your hard earned money. 10.01.2022 This game is my ultimate lifesaver, whenever we are waiting and the kids are getting bored! Waiting at a restaurant, dentist... anywhere!!! We call it Spot it. I’ll look around the room and say, e.g Can you see a fire extinguisher? The first person to find the object points to it and calls out Spot it and gets a big cheer! If they aren’t correct the game continues. Sometimes, I’ll give them a clue e.g it’s on the righthand side of the room. ... It’s a great way to fill time and enjoy the challenge individually or against each other. I’ve played this game with the kids since they were little. I find it makes them more aware of what’s around their environment and teaches them objects they may not know. When the kids were younger I would start the game by getting them to find something really obvious, like the salt on the table that we were sitting at and then continue to make it harder. 10.01.2022 Have you toasted pita bread under your sandwich press to make pita chips? Lunch today was nachos! Where possible, I try to avoid corn chips. As an alternative I use pita and toast it under the sandwich press. It comes out crunchy and can be easily broken into chips. These are also a great alternative to savoury biscuits which seem to be running low on the shelves at the moment. The kids love toasted pita chips for dips and nachos! 10.01.2022 The rides at Disneyland and Universial Studios definitely got us all out of our comfort zone, more than once! You never really know what each ride entails so we put it down to building resilience Massive learning experience as they conquered nearly every ride (luckily we got the fast passes) We wandered around drinking Butterbeer at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The kids loved going to Ollivander’s where they marvelled at how a wand chooses its wizard! So many wands to choose from.

My kids love the tiger, shark and penguin) -scroll down a little -you will see, meet a life sized e.g Tiger up close -tap on view in 3D... -take photos of your animal around the house. Please share your photos below, we would love to see them!! Great for children to see, learn and compare e.g that a shark is as big as their bedroom etc. My kids have just had fun taking photos of the animals around the house and backyard. However, this could be a fantastic writing prompt, a fun maths lesson measuring the animals etc

05.01.2022 Mexico Eating Mexican food with the locals in little shacks, paying in Pesos and speaking a few words in Spanish. The boys have enjoyed watching the locals make tortillas and trying their luck when biting into chilies The food is delicious! All beef tacos are diced steak, no mince meat in Tacos here!!
