25.01.2022 Like a little ray of sunshine to share something new to support the breastfeeding dyad

24.01.2022 World Breastfeeding Week- for a sustainable future

23.01.2022 URGENT: Donations for the Human Milk Emergency Reserve.. Please see our website on how to donate.. www.mothersmilkbank.com.au Mothers Milk Bank Charity urgentl...y calls for donations to establish a human milk emergency reserve. This reserve is of particular relevance for vulnerable communities, where the feeding of infant formula in the presence of pathogen exposure leads to a 5-6 times higher mortality in infants under 2 months (Lancet 2008, see below). This figure is close to that seen following the 2009 swine flu pandemic when Indigenous Australians, made up 11% of all identified cases and had a six-fold death rate compared with non-Indigenous Australians[across all age groups]and recently drawn attention to by Dawn Casey, the deputy CEO of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation. There is currently no provision for infants in the community. NSW Health [as is the case in all other states] is focussed on providing pasteurised donor human milk to vulnerable premature babies, those born less than 32 weeks gestational age or of a very low birth weight (i.e. <1500 grams). The human milk emergency reserve gives food security to newborn infants in need of breastmilk. The stock needs to be accrued BEFORE the emergency. For more information or donation process please see our website www.mothersmilkbank.com.au

23.01.2022 Yes , yet one more added benefit of breastfeeding and no issues when others panic buy the other sources of infant nutrition

22.01.2022 Using available technology may be of some benefit

22.01.2022 #Repost @lactationsolutionsofprinceton with @get_repost thank you for post this @lactationsolutionsofprinceton ! Friction blisters don’t mean absolutely that y...our baby is tongue tied, but it does mean that the lips are working extra hard and that your baby needs help. Calling an IBCLC is a good first step! Lip blisters are a sign of oral disfunction. True for breast and bottle feeding babies. Some bottle nipple shapes exacerbate this as well. Read more in this excellent post by @milkmatterspt Posted @withregram @milkmatterspt Have you ever seen these whiteish bumps on your baby’s precious lips after a feed? These are lip blisters and they are one of the many signs that can indicate tethered oral tissues. When a baby needs to remain latched but has a tongue restriction, the lips have to act as the primary seal to get the milk they need. The lips are basically holding on for dear life and that’s why the blisters form. It can be a sign of the tongue not functioning well. In conjunction with other signs, it can help give clues that something is off. Other signs can include painful nursing or damaged nipples, misshaped lipstick nipples after a feed, frustration at the breast, clicking sounds, sensitive gag reflex, poor weight gain, grassiness,spit-up or reflux type symptoms, recessed chin, high palate, recurring clogged ducts. If any of these symptoms sound familiar, please find a provider who is trained in tongue ties. NOT all pediatricians or dentists or lactation consultants are knowledgeable to recognize or diagnose them. #ibclc #lactation #breastfeeding #chestfeeding #prenataleducation #evidencebased #pumpingmilk #returntowork #princeton #pacedbottlefeeding #supplementation #tonguetie #4thtrimester #breastfeedingcheckup #humanmilk #pumpingmom #baby #liquidgold #oralmotorskills See more

13.01.2022 Nice little video clip on breastfeeding and covid

13.01.2022 Breast milk is magic

12.01.2022 Please people, let’s stay safe, maintain social distancing where possible and wear a mask if not. It’s not hard.

11.01.2022 More people chose this option and do very well in managing to develop a plentiful supply and provide all their infants nutritional requirements

11.01.2022 In times of global pandemic it is more important than ever to be breastfeeding babies and toddlers- breastmilk has natural immunologic properties to boost your babies defences against illness- including Covid

10.01.2022 Formula companies do a good job promoting the wonders of their products to an unsuspecting public but the reality is quite different

10.01.2022 Only 11 days until World breastfeeding week begins!!!!! I am so excited

09.01.2022 Absolutely Why are we so hung up on how a baby sleeps? Its not about the baby.

08.01.2022 What a great little clip

05.01.2022 These thoughts can be very frightening to experience as a parent but can also be quite common for parents to have. If they are happening a lot or impacting on your ability to sleep then seek support from your health care worker about what is going on for you- keep your partner involved to support you too.

05.01.2022 Had to laugh, this can be so true, different days are just......different days

03.01.2022 Vaccines make money for Big Pharma! Fair point, except... Your daily vitamins make money for Big Vitamin ... Your shoes make money for Big Shoe The sandwich you made for lunch makes money for Big Wheat Just because a product creates a profit (and in the case of vaccines, a very small profit!), does not make that product bad. In the case of vaccines, profits are needed to ensure that vaccines can be distributed fairly and at low cost to developing countries, and to help pay for the research & development that is needed to ensure the safety & efficacy of the vaccine. Dont get me wrong - Im not saying pharmaceutical companies are moral, ethical heroes. Governments, advocacy organisations and others must continue to pressure them to put people over profits. But regardless of whether a company makes money from a product, if that product saves between 2-3 million lives EACH YEAR, as vaccines do then that is money that I am very happy to see spent.

03.01.2022 Do not separate

02.01.2022 And Australian stats are equally disappointing as the UK
