22.01.2022 MEAL PLANNING...... Do you meal plan? Meal planning for yourself or your family has many benefits... For your health For your hip pocket And it keeps you organised as you know exactly what you need to buy and exactly what’s cooking in the kitchen! I tend to meal plan dinner during the week as that’s when we are most busy I sit down with recipe books, magazines (I often use @healthyfoodguide) and my laptop and write on a calendar what is happening that week and what we are eating I write out my shopping list as I make decisions How do you meal plan? I would love to know how others do it... Disclaimer ~ This is not something I do all the time as sometimes it feels all too hard! It does make life easier when I do it though, but I don’t beat myself up if it doesn’t get done!! #mealplanning #organised #recipes #healthy #budget #buyseasonal #sandwichgeneration #selfcaresaves #selfcare #perimenopause #menopause #menopausetransition #menopausematters #womenshealth #womenswellness #hormones #melbournenutritionist #melbourne #ipreview via @preview.app See more

22.01.2022 Weight gain in Menopause Weight gain is common as we reach the menopause years, particularly around the waist Studies have shown that weight gain is due to aging rather than menopause ... However, lower oestrogen influences fat metabolism and a redistribution of a different type of fat occurs around the waist, known as active fat or visceral fat, which can have a negative impact on our long term health If you want to know more, you can read about it in a blog that I wrote, link is in my bio #menopausesupport #menopausehelp #40plus #50plus #overforty #overfifty #oestrogen #midlifehealth #menopauseawareness #healthyaging #sandwichgeneration #selfcaresaves #selfcare #perimenopause #menopause #menopausetransition #menopausematters #womenshealth #womenswellness #hormones #melbournenutritionist #melbourne #ipreview via @preview.app See more

21.01.2022 SOY Did you know that soy products are phytoestrogens that can help with some symptoms such as hot flushes? Did you also know that they only work 1 in 3 women?... 13.01.2022 Weight does not indicate the health status of a person. When we focus on our health ~ the 5 Pillars of Self Care ~ we address our overall health, physical, mental and emotional. We connect with how we feel, not how we look or what the number on the scale reads. When you are healthy, your weight will naturally reach its own set point, which is unique for you. ... Every body is different, and once you accept your body for what it is and let go of unrealistic ideals, you will feel the freedom from your thoughts and expectations. Having a prime focus on weight and how we look does not serve us well. It lowers our self esteem, confidence and feeds into feelings of guilt and disappointment. Our bodies go through enough in menopause, let’s nurture and support ourselves by focusing on health rather than weight. 04.01.2022 This is what has been actually going on for me and my family this past week. Our cat, Prince, our first and only family pet, had only one functioning kidney due to kidney disease, most of his life. We managed it with the right diet recommended by our vet and regular check ups. A week ago we had an inkling that he wasn’t himself, and noticed he was not eating much and had lost a lot of weight. We took him to the vet to find he had stage 4 kidney disease - and he declined rapi...dly throughout the week. I’ve cried a river all week and my heart aches , I will miss him so much. He was the best cat that was so treasured and loved. We said goodbye to Prince this morning. The most difficult decision we have ever had to make with my head and heart in conflict, but he was ready, even if we weren’t. We never would’ve been ready, and had to do what was best for him, as he had declined rapidly this week. He has given us 12 years of joy and happiness, and even though my tears are flowing and my heart is broken, I know with time our memories will make us smile once again. I will miss him terribly and love him forever. PRINCE 8/3/2009 - 5/12/2020
