19.01.2022 Experts advise against laying on your back in the 3rd trimester. It can be very dangerous to you and the baby. This is because it places the weight of the growing uterus and baby on your intestines and your vena cava - the main vein that carries blood back to the heart from your lower body. But where the message has been muddled, is that you can, just not for too long. This advice came from the warning to not sleep on your back. But in terms of exercising, YES you can do shor...t periods/exercises on your back. Only a minute or two is advised. If you feel any of the following, this is a sign to stop immediately and either reduce the time spent on your back during workouts, or stop altogether if is was less than a minute: So stop if: - Dizzy - Faint - Nauseous - Breathlessness With anything, listen to your body and ease into it if it's a new movement to your routine. **Always consult your treating doctor before trying any new exercise while pregnant. #healthybumps #prenatalexercisewithexperts #prenatalworkout #fitpregnancy #healthypregnancy #exercisephysiology

11.01.2022 "At least one in every five women experience anxiety, depression, or both during pregnancy and/or following birth." (PANDA - Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia). As a mum-to-be it can often be overwhelming there is so much information and change to take in. 06.01.2022 How AMAZING is the pregnant body?! Did you know that when you are pregnant: your blood volume increases by 40 to 50%... the amount of skin that you have increases from approx. 17% to 18.5% by the end of your pregnancy your kidneys have to work harder, they are filtering more blood and producing more urine (you're essentially peeing for 2!) Even more reason to take care of yourself, eat well and do safe exercise when expecting! #healthybumps #prenatalexercisewithexperts #prenatalworkout #fitpregnancy #healthypregnancy #exercisephysiology Image: source unknown.
04.01.2022 Hands up if you get those late night calf cramps that wake you up during that precious sleep?! Your body is likely screaming for some extra magnesium. You can easily have tablets for this, or you can do it a more natural way through food and salts. Check out our naturopaths @Sarahfehlbergnaturopath top tips for why mummas and mummas to be need magnesium MAGNESIUM... Magnesium is an important mineral for pre-natal and post natal mummas. Magnesium is essential for energy, nervous system balance and hormonal balance. Magnesium is depleted under times of physical and emotional stress...you probably don't have to read on any further to resonate with this as a new mum or mum to be - magnesium for mummas is a vital mineral. Muscle fatigue, cramps, headaches, insomnia (to name a few) are all signs you may be needing this precious mineral. Food is a way to increase your magnesium. But another safe and affordable and relaxing way to absorb magnesium into your body at home is in your bath or foot bath using epsom salts like from @sarahs_soaks. Use 1-2 cups in a bath and 1 cup in a foot soak. Epsom salts absorb into the skin quickly and bypass any digestive issues meaning they penetrate quickly and easily leaving you feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. Read more about magnesium rich foods and the benefits of Magnesium during and after pregnancy on our website coming very soon.
