19.01.2022 The following schools are closed today due to the "possibility" of a student testing poositive to covid-19 : Riverstone High School Schofields High School Wyndham College Nirimba... At this stage (6:28am Wednesday) no student has tested positive at any of these schools.

17.01.2022 NEW CANTEENS OPENING IN TERM 3 We will be opening 3 new Canteens next term, and need Supervisors and staff for each. Riverstone High School :... A shiny brand new canteen. Their are currently 425 students, but this will grow to more than 1,500 within a few years ... and we are there for 5 years. Chifley College Mt Druitt : Another shiny brand new canteen ! This has been fully renovated in stainless steel since we were last there 2 years ago. The school now has 530 students Cambridge Park High : We finished here recently at the end of Term 1. 01.01.2022 WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH SCHOOL CANTEENS IN TERM 2 ? Well the short answer is that it appears that no one has any real idea when we will be open. The Department Of Education has advised all schools that :... All community use of school facilities, including Canteens, is temporarily suspended, effective immediately, until the end of Term 2, 2020 Then tonight on the news, we see the Premier Gladys Berejiklian saying we are very closely getting advice on what Term 2 will look like in schools and Education Secretary Mark Scott, announcing that Students are welcome in every School and we want that to be a consistent message I can only speak for our business - not that of other canteen operators and P&C operated canteens - however, we are in a position primarily due to the mixed messages of our Premier where we will lose more than $400,000 in perishable stock when Gladys announced at 8:05am on Monday 23rd March words to the effect Schools remain open however you should keep your kids at home unless you are an emergency services worker. Within 24 hours of that statement by the NSW Premier, our sales dropped by 90% - and over the coming 3 weeks we lost more than $1,300,000 in revenue - and even worse - 252 staff that were like family to us. All of our staff are now in limbo because, despite all of the talk in the media, nothing has legally been put in place to help our staff. Meanwhile, in the childcare sector (that already charge an obscene $120 - $180 a day) the Government is working on an urgent rescue package just for them. I guess it helps to have vocal spokespeople in the media for them. The reality for school canteens is that there is likely to be hundreds that will not re-open this year. At Healthy Canteens we currently operate 95 Canteens in Sydney, and sadly I can tell you that we may not be able to re-open up to 20 of our Canteens due to the massive losses we have sustained. In the past week I have spoken to many other operators (who between them operate another 120 Canteens) - and the general consensus is that they will shut all but their large canteens permanently And even when kids start to go back to school, it will not be viable for many schools to be able to re-open their canteens until their are at least 80% of students attending. So, although you may hear in coming weeks that schools will welcome all students and statements like that, it will be a lot longer before canteens are in a position to provide lunches for kids again If you could share this post with as many people as possible, maybe our Premier might get the message and give me a call Graham Bernard Managing Director Healthy Canteens Australia
