25.01.2022 I've slowly been building up products in the Shop for people that have to hold to a low FODMAP based diet and have included a couple of pics below. If you have any sort of Digestive or Intestinal disorder such as IBS, SIBO(Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), Coeliac, Crohnes or even just consistent Bloating and Flatulence then taking on the FODMAP Diet or part of it could well help. DescriptionFODMAP is an acronym for "Fermentable Oligo-, Di-, Mono-saccharides And Polyol...s". They are short chain carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine, and are prone to absorb water and ferment in the colon. This then produces inflammation and gases such as methane or hydrogen and will result in smelly breath or flatulence. It also creates an excess of bad bacteria in your small intestine which can really Compound things. I have copied down a list of Foods that are to be avoided on this diet so if you are experiencing any of above problems it may well be worth your while to read through them and see if you are consistently eating these. If you wish to discuss further then feel free to pop into the Shop and ask ..........FOODS HIGH IN FODMAPS......... Fruits: Apples, applesauce, apricots, blackberries, boysenberries, cherries, canned fruit, dates, figs, pears, peaches, watermelon Sweeteners: Fructose, honey, high fructose corn syrup, xylitol, mannitol, maltitol, sorbitol Dairy products: Milk (from cows, goats and sheep), ice cream, most yogurts, sour cream, soft and fresh cheeses (cottage, ricotta, etc) and whey protein supplements Vegetables: Artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, beetroot, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, garlic, fennel, leeks, mushrooms, okra, onions, peas, shallots Legumes: Beans, chickpeas, lentils, red kidney beans, baked beans, soybeans Wheat: Bread, pasta, most breakfast cereals, tortillas, waffles, pancakes, crackers, biscuits Other grains: Barley and rye Beverages: Beer, fortified wines, soft drinks with high-fructose corn syrup, milk, soy milk, fruit juices

20.01.2022 Hello.....just a brief update is that I have just Ordered some Face Masks for those that are a bit more discerning with the materials that are used in them. They are re usable Organic Cotton and also are unbleached and are made by an environmental friendly company called 'Hannahpad'. They have a soft stretchy loop which goes around the ears and are a extremely soft and comfortable mask. If you google 'Hannahpad Face Masks you will get a great little video demonstrating them. 2 sizes - Adult and Kids and I believe they come in Black but will check for any other colour variations at work today. Any Colours Hannahpad uses are sustainably sourced vegetable dyes. Hopefully they will be in by the end of the week.....will advise

18.01.2022 Morning everybody.....I’ve just had news through form my main VEGAN Supplier in Melbourne that they now have exclusive Distributorship of the 'Field Roast' Vegan brand and they are after 'Pre Orders' for the 3 varieties of Xmas Roasts they produce. These are seriously good products and as we can’t source the ‘Tofurky' brand any more these are the best option available. I know Christmas is a little way off but I have to get my Order in by tomorrow so if anybody would like to... put their name down for one then please advise. I have incl a 'Screenshot' of their standard 'Half Roast' for your perusal or you can google the other 2 varieties. The next size up is 900g and of the same type as the Half Roast but with a Mushroom Gravy and there is a top of the line 'Cranberry and Hazlenut En Crout' stuffed Xmas loaf at 900g also so would appreciate any feedback on any quantities required. This has Ginger, Apple, Cranberry and Walnuts in a Savoury Puff. There are no Gluten Free versions unfortunately. have a great day

18.01.2022 Good morning...am bringing you a new Supplier to our pages this morningLAUDS is a husband and wife team down in Tassie that specialises in Vegan Non Dairy products. They have carved out quite a niché market with their unique and extensive usage of ingredients. They are not cheap but the old saying is true that 'you pay for what you get' and with these guys you get a very well balanced all natural whole food and nutritionally supportive product and I have started off with 3 ...products. 1- Cultured Oat Butter. There are next to no quality non dairy butters on the marketplace worth mentioning without them tasting rubbery and false. This one is smooth and creamy and ticks all of the boxes how Butter should. 2- Oat Cheese Melt. Haven't tried this one personally but if you like a bit of the gooey stuff on your toastie or as a topping then this should fit the bill and will stand alongside the popular 'Green Vie' non dairy mozzarella we have in the fridge. 3- Lastly is Lauds 'Aged Ashed Walnut Cheese'. This is a tangy yet smooth Nut Cheese that serves well alongside a good cracker or mixed savoury selection. I tried mine with some of the Oat Crackers we have in the shop for a yummy Sunday afternoon tea Catch you all tomorrow and have a great day!

15.01.2022 Hey everybody....been snowed under of late so not much FB time of late. 2 quick posts today and hopefully get some time for some more 'Info' articles tomorrow Sonja from 'Eco Tan' has just released an all natural(of course!!)make up brush kit with a every imaginable application brush that you can think of. Fully Vegan with super soft natural bristles and sustainably sourced handles. Fully bio degradable also in a great storage pouch that will make travelling easy....come i...n and check out the display model at the front of the store on the 'Eco' stand. Have got fresh stocks back in of the 'Lauds' Butter and Cheeses. Initial sales sold out very quickly with great feedback. Being Vegan and Non Dairy with a far superior alternative base to most other cheeses on the market puts Lauds well in front. I have added a 'Smoked Oat and Pepperbery' cheese to compliment the Ashed Walnut Cheerio and have a great day

15.01.2022 Good morning everybody....nothing really special to say today other than to advise that our awesome 'Free Range Egg' supplier Hoods is struggling with supply at present with the cold weather and new season chookieson the ground they seem to have gone on strike so we won't have any eggles for a week or two...twill advise when they are back in Also on the 'out of stock' front is the 'Vitawirx Sugar Free Protein' chocolate. The manufacturers in their infinite wisdom has change...d distributors(for the 4th time now)so i had to chase up the new supplier and set things up with them. A Order has been placed but it all takes time. We have some stock of 35g bars but that's about all. Have a happy and safe weekend Steve

14.01.2022 Morning everybody.....simple rule for good digestion of our main meals is not to drink water or fluids of any kind half an hour before, during or half hour after eating. This dilutes our Stomach acids which severely weakens the breakdown of foods during the digestion process and which also compromises nutrient absorption. This is critically important for those of us with poor digestion/absorption and any intestinal disorders. Our bodies are only as good as the food we eat so treat your digestive systems with care. 09.01.2022 Happy weekend everybody and hope you have all enjoyed your week. I've got a LOT of ppsting of new products that have been arriving the last few months that some of you may have seen in the shop but do need to update you all 'HEAVENS BAKEHOUSE' is a small Gluten Free and Vegan food manufacturer in Melbourne who specialise in only 4 products but they are amongst the best I have tasted on the market and the ingredients are excellent which relates to the end result. 1- PUFF PA...STRY ....this is a Gluten Free and Vegan product and is based on Besan Flour. I have used it often with very good results. 3 good sized thick sheets ready rolled p/pack. It is very workable just off the thaw and whilst it is called a 'Puff' the end result is between a Puff and Shortcrust Pastry in my book. There are precious few quality GF pastries on the Market but this is one of them. 2- PASTIES .... Gluten Free and Vegan once again. They are packed with a good range of mixed veg and not just potato and crumbs as some do. Crisp pastry and very filling. Nothing else to say really 3- DONUTS ..... My weakness are DONUTSso I was very curious when they arrived In Store. 6 Cinnamon donuts p/pack and honestly I can't pick the difference. Gluten Free again and they have done an excellent job creating these. There is a Preservative in these though which is why I limit myself to two. They come frozen from the factory but a lil while in the oven(I semi toast mine)and they par perfectly with your favourite afternoon cuppa......great SNACK ATTACK food! 4- Last but need least are Heavens Bakehouse MEAT PIES. Gluten Free but obviously not Vegan as these are traditional Pies. Same as the Pasties in being very full of filling and not just gravy. Crisp pastry which is a rarity for G/F Pies as the pastry tends to be chewy with other Brands. They have been very popular since they have arrived. We are very pleased at 'Nu Life' to have this range on offer A safe and happy weekend to all.......Steve

03.01.2022 Hi everybody....just updating our current standing with the elevated CoVid situation which as you all well know is seeing increasing numbers in Melbourne and also our Local area. We haven’t backed off our usual 'Pre and During' shop hours cleaning program of all door handles, EFTPOS and Computer terminals, BULK Containers since the start of CoVid and all Customers have generally been observing our Distancing and Entry/Exit protocols which has been awesome. We have however e...levated our procedures to only allowing 3 Customers max in the Shop at any one time, asking that if you wish to use our Bulk Containers that you please use the Disposable Gloves provided in that Section. We have increased our Cleaning again to ensure as clean an Environment for everybodies protection and also request that you Sanitise your Hands at the Station inside the front door and there are gloves available also there for your convenience if you so desire. Together we will keep things as safe as possible and remember that we have 'Home Delivery' for those that do not want to come into town and as we are an 'Essential Service' we will always be here for you Take care everybody!
