19.01.2022 When people hear UV, fears of cancer enter their minds because that's what media and the medical profession has marketed to us. But there are different spectrums of UV, which primarily are UVa, UVb and UVc. UVa and UVb are the two that penetrate the skin and are the leading cause of skin cancer. Where as UVc doesn't penetrate the layer of dead skin cells on the surface of our bodies. "UVC radiation has not been shown to be a cause of human skin cancer or other types of human... cancer." "UVC radiation can damage the superficial tissues of the eye, and care must be taken to avoid excessive exposures of the eye. We should note, though, that while eye exposures to UVC may cause extreme discomfort, the symptoms usually subside within a rather short time, and no evidence of any malignant effects has ever been noted." George Chabot, PhD, CHP

02.01.2022 The healthy UV sanitation units have been designed to prevent accidental exposure to UVC with the help of sensors and smart electronics. So that the following doesn't occur. "Germicidal lamps are designed to emit UVC radiation because of its ability to kill bacteria. In humans, UVC is absorbed in the outer dead layers of the epidermis. Accidental overexposure to UVC can cause corneal burns, commonly termed welders' flash, and snow blindness, a severe sunburn to the face. While UVC injury usually clears up in a day or two, it can be extremely painful." Gary Zeman, ScD, CHP
