24.01.2022 As a part of the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to the arts sector, these Digital Adaptation Grants will support local organisations like UMI Arts and Cairns Indigenous Art Fair in their recovery from the Impact of COVID-19. The program is being funded through the Government’s $22.5 million Arts and Cultural Recovery Package, which is part of our plan for economic recovery. We need more support for our arts sector, not more LNP cuts. ... Roz Pappalardo Music

24.01.2022 Don’t worry girls and boys, Santa is good to go for Christmas! Santa and his reindeer have been given special permission to visit Queensland and deliver pressies this year. Children are encouraged to put out treats, but make sure you wash your hands beforehand! #Christmas

24.01.2022 Another Parliamentary sitting week and a brisk morning walk to get the day started. A good way to prepare for a busy day.

24.01.2022 #BREAKING From 4pm today, you can grab a drink or meal at your favourite venue without having to be seated. It’s one of the changes we’re making as part of Queensland’s new roadmap to easing restrictions. Your safety is still the most important thing venues must operate with a COVID Safe Plan. We’re able to take these careful steps because of our strong health response and the hard work of Queenslanders.... It’s great news for business and our continuing economic recovery, so make sure you get out and support your local this weekend. 23.01.2022 If there’s one thing this pandemic has shown us, it’s how important our frontline health workers are. And we’ve got a record to be proud of: since 2015 we’ve hired 2,450 more doctors and 7,358 more nurses and midwives across Queensland. Our record investment in health is creating jobs and delivering better health care for Queenslanders critical to our economic recovery. #qldpol #auspol

23.01.2022 World Diabetes Day, 14 November, is an international recognition of people living with diabetes and the people who help them along their journey. Marking the birthdate of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin in 1922, the day is an opportunity to raise awareness of diabetes and the impact it has on people and our community. This year, the focus is on nurses, and the contribution they make to people through their work in the prevention, diagnosis and management of d...iabetes. The role of nurses is increasingly important as diabetes becomes more prevalent in our community. Nurses are often the first interaction for someone diagnosed with diabetes, helping them to learn how to manage the condition. With diabetes so often underlying other conditions, the importance of nursing staff in recognising the importance of diabetes management in hospitals can shorten a patient’s stay and reduce the risks of complications. Many nurses enhance their specialisation in diabetes by becoming Credentialled Diabetes Educators and helping people step-by-step through their journeys. See more

22.01.2022 The 2020 Budget is focused on delivering our promises made to the people of Queensland. This Budget will deliver on the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s clearly defined priorities: safeguarding Queenslanders’ health; supporting jobs; backing small business; Making it for Queensland by supporting Queensland manufacturers; building Queensland’s infrastructure; growing our regions; investing in skills; backing frontline services; and protecting our precious environment. More than anything else, this Budget has a single overarching objective creating more Queensland jobs.

22.01.2022 I'm proud of the way Annastacia Palaszczuk MP has kept Queenslanders safe during the pandemic. Show your support for Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and the strong investment in Cairns as we implement our economic recovery plan.

21.01.2022 IT'S BEEN A BIG WEEK OF WINS FOR CAIRNS! Thanks to strong investment from Annastacia Palaszczuk MP and the Queensland Labor government, the Cairns Marine Precinct will receive a $30 million investment to build an 80-metre wharf and a 100-metre wharf, and there are plans to create even more development. This will support at least 150 jobs in the construction phase alone.... It’s all part of our Far North Queensland Regional Recovery Action Plan, which is creating job security, business confidence and happier, healthier communities. Our focus is on delivering more support to major industries in #Cairns and the #FarNorth so we can continue our economic recovery and get #Queenslanders back into jobs.

20.01.2022 I am enormously proud to be appointed Assistant Tourism Minister working with my good friend and colleague Minister Stirling Hinchliffe. Tourism is a key pillar of our economy and my role will be to help lead the industry out of the economic setback the pandemic created. #ttnq #tourismqueensland #destinationcairnsmarketing #PortDouglasDaintreeTourism #MissionBeachTourism

19.01.2022 Last night, I was honoured to be invited to the "FUTURE OF OUR REEF & REGION" Candidates Debate hosted by the Australian Marine Conservation Society. Kristy O'Neill is an experienced member of the local dive community and has been instrumental in assisting with the management of the Crown Of Thorns Starfish threat. She asked this important question: "Will your party retain the current reef water pollution laws, and fully fund them to clean up our waterways?"... Let me know what you think of the responses.

19.01.2022 Wishing all our Nepalese, Bhutanese and Indian community members a very happy Diwali.

16.01.2022 One of the most important things in this job is to get out and about and listening to your constituents. Another productive and busy morning. Thanks to all who stopped and chatted.

15.01.2022 A busy morning working through the State Budget before Parliament sits. A solid and honest budget for Cairns.

15.01.2022 The Annastacia Palaszczuk MP Government’s strong health response has allowed us to deliver our economic recovery plan for Queensland. We can’t risk Deb Frecklington to cut Queensland jobs as she did during the Campbell Newman era

15.01.2022 How is Deb Frecklington going to fund her $23 billion in election promises? Cuts, cuts, and more cuts. I'm calling on the #LNP to come clean to #Queenslanders about what jobs and services they will cut to pay for their election promises.

14.01.2022 I am ashamed of the Federal Government's immoral and illegal attitude towards those desperate refugees who want only what we have, safety and security for their families and a chance to make a real contribution to building our Nation and their families future.

14.01.2022 The former LNP Government cut arts funding in Queensland, however the Palaszczuk Government is committed to investing in the arts sector. Youth And Arts Pathways (YAAP) aims to help attract and retain young people within the arts and cultural sector and help organisations like JUTE Theatre Company and Kickarts in delivering training programs, workshops, placements or practical and technical skills development activities within professional arts practices. With 8 organisatio...ns sharing nearly $380,000 in funding, the Palaszczuk Government will continue to support the arts sector as part of Queensland’s plan for economic recovery. . . . . . 13.01.2022 2020 has been a year like no other, and many Queenslanders will head into 2021 unsure of what lies ahead. That’s why this morning we announced a public transport fare freeze in 2021. This move will give commuters certainty on costs for the year ahead as Queensland navigates its economic recovery, and encourage commuters to use public transport.

10.01.2022 Queensland Arts Showcase Program grants are an integral part of our arts funding in QLD, that many organisations and artists rely on to keep producing incredible art. Organisations and people like Tommy Pau (who will create a linocut print exhibition to celebrated 150 years since the Coming of the Light to TSI people) use this funding to create wonderful arts and cultural experiences for Queenslanders to enjoy. Since the Palaszczuk Government established QASP in 2015, 485 projects have been supported with more than $17.5 million in funding. We need more support for our arts sector, not more LNP cuts.
