24.01.2022 Diana Rigg, Hear Hear for Bhutan’s Speech Pathologist, is nearly ready to leave for Bhutan where she will conduct professional development for Master Trainers and curriculum writers next week. Diana has donated her intellectual property to Bhutan to improve the quality of teaching early English literacy. Her Structured Synthetic Phonics program will be implemented in all Bhutan’s schools in 2020, starting with Pre Primary (and then Classes I, II and III). Diana has adapted her materials for the explicit teaching of the sounds of alphabet letter to suit the Bhutanese context, and prepared teaching videos for all 4 curricula.

09.01.2022 A group of grateful teachers attending two days of Professional Development to learn about the new Structured Synthetic Phonics approach to developing early literacy being implemented across Bhutan this year: an initiative of Hear Hear for Bhutan. Special thanks to Diana Rigg
06.01.2022 Hear hear for Bhutan’s Diana Rigg visited The Royal Education Council of Bhutan last week. She provided a professional development program for the Masters Trainers who will lead the Primary English teachers in the introduction of Structured Synthetic Phonics for Pre Primary classes next year. All teachers of PP and Classes I,II and III will be trained. Through this program, teachers will lead their students to learn the sound of alphabet letters, then of words and then how to... read. The literacy level of Bhutan will be enhanced by this large scale initiative. Diana worked closely with the REC’s Sangay Tshering and his curriculum team to revised the current curriculum in readiness for next year. We are grateful to Kinga Drukpa, Director of REC, for his support and leadership.
04.01.2022 Planning for 2020: Diana Rigg and Helen Wildy are preparing their visits to Bhutan to support the roll out of Structured Synthetic Phonics (SSP) in all Bhutanese Pre-Primary classes from the start of this year. We send greetings to all PP teachers for enjoyment and success in this initiative which will lead to increased literacy across the country. We thank the Royal Education Council and Teacher Professional Support Division, as well as the Master Trainers, for their commitment to this HHfB project
