22.01.2022 Hearing loops arent just for halls and churches. While our kids were growing up we had one for our TV which meant they could hear clearly. My wife could also put it on mute so she didnt have to hear endless Wiggles renditions of Hot Potato. The only problem came when the kids discovered if they wore their hearing aids to bed they could listen to my Star Trek. www.hearconnect.com.au/products

13.01.2022 This certainly rings true of when I was a child! "A reminder from your audiologist: We can help your child hear better, but we cant make him listen"

06.01.2022 One of our team members Bec was recently featured in the ABCs deaf episode of You Cant Ask That! You can stream the episode through the link bellow.

06.01.2022 The days of body worn hearing aids are over and its time to make hearing aids trendy like glasses!

05.01.2022 After our daughter received her cochlear implant at 25 she spent 15 minutes walking around the kitchen putting her cochlear ear next to every appliance trying to work out where on earth that noise was coming from... As it turns out refrigerators make noise!

04.01.2022 There are some advantages, few and far between they may be...

03.01.2022 Remember that for people with hearing loss Christmas can be really overwhelming and tiring - be on the look out for quiet spots for conversations and if they need 10 minutes to just recuperate, let them! This was our daughters experience 7 weeks after her cochlear implant switch on: On Sunday someone told me that I should be great, not just fine, its Christmas! they said - but I am worn out. Through this cochlear implant process so far, Ive done my best to maintain a posi...tive attitude - but Ill be honest and say that this week has been really hard. Im still straining a lot to hear with my hearing aid and Im not getting much from my cochlear implant. I am so exhausted from listening. On Christmas Day I just didnt have the capacity to get through all the family events. Following a quiet lunch with my parents, extended family started arriving for dinner and I had nothing left. I felt close to tears and just wanted to leave and sleep. I tried using directional microphones to help but it just wasnt enough. I had 2 cups of tea to try and keep myself going as our family Christmas is an important event for everyone and I didnt want to sacrifice that. I keep being told how well Im doing and Im sick of hearing it as I feel terrible and Im really struggling to be positive at the moment. But its hard, Im tired, and Im not okay at the moment. --- It is now over two years since switch on and Im doing much better. I dont have to strain to hear nearly as often and my fatigue levels have reduced. With all that said I still find Christmas hard, there is so much listening squeezed into one or 2 days and not much time for rest in between. Add to this constant background noise and I really dont look forward to those couple of days.

03.01.2022 Even pets can get hearing loss at times .... when I was a child, our dog went deaf and we had to stamp on the floor to get her attention. Like I always say to people, get the person or dogs attention first before you start talking. Unfortunately our dog didnt learn Auslan lol www.hearconnect.com.au/products

02.01.2022 Works for lipreading too!

01.01.2022 We have seen this in family members who already had a hearing loss and it can be devastating. If you or a family have a sudden change in your hearing get it checked out ASAP, the earlier it is treated the better chances you have of saving your hearing
