25.01.2022 Another client smiling from ear to ear!! Our beautiful client loves playing PS4, watching the Simpson on his tablet and enjoys watching movies on his big screen TV, however, as he doesnt love wearing his hearing aids at home, he often has the sound up really loud! We came to the rescue fitting the new Audeara bluetooth headphones and he LOVES THEM and apparently wears them as much as possible!!!....... Why are they so good? Audeara allows you to: 1. do a simple hearing check through their free app to measure what you can hear, 2. optimises the sound of the headphones specific to your hearing results, 3. Gives you amazing sound quality so you can enjoy your favourite shows, games, music or phone calls with the clarity you need, without just adding volume!! Call Heart for a hearing on 0411521338 to trial these marital savers today!

We fitted him with Signia Hearing aids and set up a special program for recorded music and I got to see him getting choked up as we blasted 'Mrs. Robinson' through his amazing sound system.....His words were 'hearing music like this again has given meaning back to my life'! A powerful appointment to add motivation to the week! Hope you all have a smashing week too!

04.01.2022 This week is HEARING AWARENESS WEEK, an opportunity to raise awareness about hearing protection and the importance of getting your hearing checked. While its easy to joke about selective hearing and all the rest, 1 in 6 Australians are hard of hearing or have a chronic ear disease, with 60% of people over the age of 60 and 70% of people over the age of 70 living with a hearing loss. The most common causes of hearing loss being ageing and noise exposure. How many people do yo...u know that could be living with a hearing loss? Like my Nana, it takes on average 7 years for people to take action and get help from the time they realize they have a hearing problem and often by that time they are starting to withdraw from the conversation, feel worried that they might reply with an inappropriate response, find it hard to socialize in noisy places and often feel bad for frustrating others when constantly asking for repeats. Also like my Nan though, it is awesome to see the benefit in their life when they take action! During Hearing awareness week, be like the thousands of other people this week and get your hearing checked EARLY! Heart for Heart will be offering FREE HEARING CHECKS!! 03.01.2022 5 TIPS TO HELP YOU HEAR BETTER IN NOISY RESTAURANTS AND HAVE YOU SMILING FROM to. 1. Be picky with more than just the food when choosing where to dine. Choose a restaurant that not only has good food but also be aware of the decor. Make sure the place has good lighting to help you see the person you are speaking to, music that isnt too loud and decor that will absorb and dampen some of the sound such as cushions, carpet, soft seating and table cloths.... 2. Choose a funky booth over a table. Booths are often more intimate with high backs and soft seats to dampen and block out some of the noise. This can allow you to keep up and enjoy the conversation without so much of the competing restaurant noise. 3. Phone ahead to book a table. Be proactive if possible and call up to book a table at a time that isnt the peak hour. When you call, ask for a table that is away from the kitchen, entrances, speakers or live bands. Try and book a table along the wall of the restaurant which is naturally quieter and if possible, book a round table so that you can see everyones faces at the table . 4. Choose your seat wisely. When you get to the restaurant, try and sit at the seat in the middle of the table and choose a seat so that majority of the noise is behind you and the person you are speaking to has their back to the wall. If you are wearing a hearing aid, most hearing aids are designed to emphasise the person you are facing and reduce the noise behind you. Using these tactics means you can hear the people at your table best and all the other unwanted restaurant noise is being reduced. 5. Connect your hearing aids to your phone or a remote microphone to make hearing in noise even easier. Hearing aids these days can connect wirelessly to your phone or a remote microphone which can act like a 3rd ear, picking up what people are saying and sending the signal to you wirelessly through your hearing aids. This feature gives you a more direct signal, reducing the restaurant noise and allowing you to still enjoy the conversation even when you are approximately 1-10m from the person you are wanting to hear. Dont let the difficulties of hearing in noisy places, stop you from spending time out with your loved ones! We hope these tips from Heart for Hearing will have you smiling from ear to ear at your next outing.

03.01.2022 Our beautiful client Duglas is in lock-down at his aged care home due to COVID-19. Sadly, he has been feeling especially isolated due to not being able to hear his loved ones as the hearing aids he had weren't doing their job. He was referred to Heart for Hearing and last week we fitted him with new hearing aids that brought him to tears of happiness, being able to finally hear again! It's moments like these that make me proud to be an audiologist!! Special shout out to Opal Aged Care Carseldine- it's a pleasure watching all the staff create a home full of love, support and fun for the residents and the vibe during this tough time is still so positive!

01.01.2022 The Google Keynote presentation has got us SUPER excited about the technology that is coming soon for those with a hearing loss!!!! LIVE CAPTIONS- transcribing, in real time, any video or audio you play on your phone including youtube videos, skype calls and even captions your home videos played from your phone. PROJECT EUPHORIA- aims to help Google Assistant better understand speech impediments or speech from people who are Deaf so all can be understood by today's voice as...sistants. and lastly, MY favourite- LIVE RELAY- uses speech recognition and text-to-speech conversion to allow a conversation on the phone, sending back written messages as spoken voice!! REVOLUTIONIZING relay calls!! If you haven't seen it- you have to watch it- here's the direct link... https://youtu.be/lyRPyRKHO8M?t=2703
