23.01.2022 Hello beautiful ones! I haven’t been around these parts for a while - I’ve taken an extended break from social media, and I’ve loved the space and serenity so much that I’ve no current plans to return. But that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped sharing. Oh no my darlings, I have not stopped sharing at all! You may not know that every Friday I send an email on what’s in my heart. Sometimes it’s food-related (think recipes, seasonal produce updates, and pics of delicious creations), b...ut I also often write about our modern state of emotional nourishment (aka a sh*tshow), and what we can do to change it. 23.01.2022 If I ever feel like I’m flying too high, stuck up in my head with a mind full of thoughts, I know that baking a loaf of bread will bring me right back on down. There’s nothing so grounding as the feel of soft dough under your hands, the rhythmic, rocking motion of your body as you knead it, and the life-giving wafts of yeast that rise as you push and fold. It’s like on-demand therapy, available any time you need it, with the added bonus of a fragrant loaf as almost a side note to this most ancient and nourishing kitchen ritual. And do you know what’s better than still-warm fresh focaccia, studded with olives, speckled with rosemary and salt, and slathered with butter? NOTHING. Nothing is better than that. I know because I just made it, and I just ate it, and I can heartily attest that it does not get better than that

19.01.2022 Oh my lord, spring has sprung!!! A mere three weeks ago, we were still in winter, with nature coming over all modest and coy as tiny buds in their brown day-dresses huddled shyly on bare branches. But now?! Boom boom POW, beauty has burst forth from every branch, twig and tree, creating a technicolour dream landscape of blossom and sweet new green leaves. 08.01.2022 The last of my stash of winter rhubarb with the first of the spring wisteria . Please be informed that I’m about to dive head-first into this rhubarb, custard, vanilla and thyme tart. I adore the fetching squidge of a custard filling offset against a flaky pastry, and the fragrant rhubarb, vanilla and thyme topping adds just the lip-smack I’m craving this afternoon. A still-warm slice of this sweet and tangy baby will see me into my weekend just nicely
