21.01.2022 More "Heart of the Nation - AED Inside" stickers going out to over 50 new members of our network this week! Look for these bright, high vis, yellow Heart of the Nation stickers in the community so you know which businesses take the prevention of death from sudden cardiac arrest seriously, by having an AED on-site to be used by staff, customers and members of the public in the unfortunate event of someone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. We applaud our members for taking the initiative of purchasing an AED, and also for becoming members of our network, and proud to show it! If you have an AED at your workplace, business or community group, sign up to become a member of the network today - it's free! https://buff.ly/300wfUH

13.01.2022 Congratulations to Victorian MP, Stuart Grimley, Member for Western Victoria, for raising awareness of this issue! See Stuart's speech to Parliament in the link below. Stuart's commitment to the community is outstanding - he has an AED in his Electoral Office for use by the public in the event of a nearby cardiac arrest, AND he has used his platform to really help shine a light on this matter. There is a role for everyone to play in this fight - so, what can YOU do? Let me know in the comments below - please! :-)

12.01.2022 $2000 vs someone's life - that's the cost disparity we are talking about here. Thank God, Castle Hill RSL had expended some money on AED's at their facility to be used when I went into cardiac arrest. No life should be at risk because a business, workplace or retail centre does not have rapid access to an AED. AED's really CAN make a huge difference to someone's chance of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest. And as the term suggests, it happens SUDDENLY, without warning, and without time for the family to say goodbye. My heart goes out to any family who loses a loved one, and the same goes for this family who lost their little girl in this awful situation. PLEASE CONSIDER GETTING AN AED FOR YOUR BUSINESS - YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU MIGHT NEED TO USE IT, AND ON WHO.

05.01.2022 One thing I didn't know prior to my sudden cardiac arrest and requiring CPR, is that ANYONE can do CPR to save a life - you DON'T need to be formally trained or qualified to try to save a life - ANY ATTEMPT AT RESUSCITATION IS BETTER THAN NONE. If you would like to get acquainted with CPR and the basics of what to do in case you ever find yourself suddenly and unexpectedly in a situation where you have a choice to try to save a life or stand by helplessly, check out this 45 minute webinar from SCA Survivor, Ian Hutchinson and his "saviour", Don MacKee! It is great to get acquainted with CPR, and become "CPR Friendly", because you never know whose life is going to be saved by your proactive actions!

01.01.2022 Think that Sudden Cardiac Arrest only strikes old, unfit people? Think again! Recently, I spoke with Alecz Day, who was just 29 years of age when he was struck by a sudden cardiac arrest during his cricket team's training session. Watch the interview below! And if you want to sign YOUR cricket club up to the Heart of the Nation fundraising campaign that provides your club with a platform to raise funds to purchase an AED so that you have this vital link in the Chain of Survival, go to https://buff.ly/37DXeKK to find out more.
