22.01.2022 So many people I'm working with are currently facing personal challenges like ghosts from their past. It's the little tests we come across on our path of evolving, giving us insight into how far we have come when making choices. Do we repeat the unfulfiling patterns and behaviours that no longer serve a purpose? Do we continue to engage and give energy to something or someone from another time? We will always have those memories and can cherish those people, but if we keep o...n bringing it into our present, we give it power to control our future. 21.01.2022 Sometimes we need a little encouragement, and sometimes we need a loving ‘push’ from outside influences to facilitate our own self care. I had the pleasure of meeting a gentleman the other day, who was in need of some relaxation and in his words ‘restoration’. After months of manual work on a project that he lovingly and methodically invested himself in, he came to me quite fatigued. I sensed his resistance at first, and as soon as my hands started massaging his body I could... feel the underlying muscle tension and depletion of energy in his body. After an hour and a half of massage, I suggested he takes his time preparing himself for the outside world again. After some time he slowly made his way back to reality, smiled and took my hand in both of his and quietly said thank you. As I watched him walk slowly out the door, my heart felt happy that through the beautiful techniques of Lomi Lomi massage, my hands could instil a sense of stillness for someone whose body and mind was in need, knowing that this stillness would continue to work its magic throughout the day. The most beautiful part of this was when I received the call regarding the appointment the afternoon before. It was in fact his partner that had made the booking. My fellow team mate Carly felt a sense of importance making this massage happen, and it appears his partner knew what he needed perhaps before he did, gifting him with time and a safe space to enable this to occur. Sometimes it is those around us that can see the impact of our environments, we may need to relent and let those people present us with opportunities to heal. Resisting caring for ourselves can be detrimental to our health; physically, mentally and emotionally. Making time for ourselves in our busy schedules should become a priority, and when someone else takes the time out of theirs to ensure that we are cared for, then maybe we need to stop and take notice. By the end of the massage, this man was grateful for his partner’s gift, and the result so profound I felt he would now take charge of his own wellbeing. Perhaps an hour or two is all it takes to kick start a change, leaving behind the worn out old pattern of self neglect. Perhaps it may take a bit longer, but time becomes irrelevant when our lives are impacted by our habits. Change can be confronting, but not taking charge of changing ways that are no longer working for us may become more confronting in the long term. Take charge of your health, become your own greatest resource and listen to your body. 05.01.2022 There are many reasons why people choose to experience Reiki; to shift the energy connected to childhood trauma, relationship heartbreak, grief and loss, spiritual awakenings; but each week I am amazed to see a basic common thread. At a minimum, it comes back to 'self-care' - recognising and acting upon the realisation that we deserve the care and support that we often willingly give to others, but not as freely to ourselves. This simple act of caring for ourself can often r...eflect the value we place upon our wellbeing and self-worth. Often I find it to be the first time someone has spent time dedicated to themselves for months or sometimes years. But this one hour of rest and relaxation can instigate a transition from feeling as though there is not enough time in the day to complete all that needs to be done, to recognising the importance of seizing those windows of opportunity to regularly spend time dedicated to oneself. This triggers the self into wanting to feel that peace again, and again, even if only momentarily. The benefits of Reiki’s healing energy are endless, and align with whatever it is the body and the soul need in that moment. But the real beauty as a facilitator of this practice is witnessing the time a person dedicates to themselves as a selfless act of love, which is the very foundation of Reiki. unconditional love.without judgement, only acceptance.
