18.01.2022 The research that backs up our hero ingredient: Indian sandalwood. A recent article published in the National Library of Medicine (Biswapriya B Misra et al) explains one of sandalwoods best qualities - the ability to brighten and balance the look of pigmentation & age spots. Alpha-santalol - one of the chemical compounds that gives Indian sandalwood its therapeutic properties was found to be an inhibitor of tyrosinase, a key enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway for the skin pi...gment melanin. In other words, Indian sandalwood oil can act as an inhibitor of abnormal pigmentation associated with aging and exposure to ultraviolet light. 08.01.2022 THE ROYAL TREE. Indian Sandalwood has been revered for its medicinal and aromatic properties for thousands of years, stretching back to a time of ancient kings and cultures. In 1792, the ruler of Mysore, Tipu Sultan, declared Mysores native Indian sandalwood a royal tree. In Mysore, sandalwood and its oil was, and still is, considered the equivalent of gold. Today, sandalwood is the second most valuable wood in the world. We grow Indian sandalwood sustainably in the far north of Australia and its inimitable fragrant Heartwood (the oil-bearing core of the tree) is our namesake.

05.01.2022 HEARTWOOD. Our brand is named after the dark, fragrant centre of the Indian sandalwood tree, where the medicinal and therapeutic benefits lie. It takes up to 20 years to grow a sustainably farmed sandalwood tree that produces Heartwood, from which the oil is distilled. So when people ask why the wood and oil is so valuable, its not only its rarity (being almost extinct in the wild), its benefits to mind and skin, or its significance to many cultures, but that every drop has been brewing for decades.
