20.01.2022 This is how we are travelling so far this heating season in Sydney. The graphs below show how much energy was consumed every night by an oil heater controlled by Heatermate. As July this year turned out to be quite a bit colder than June, the average daily consumption almost doubled. You can also see that on some relatively warm nights in June Heatermate kept the heater OFF all night (consumption = 0 kWhs), as no heating was required. In July, on the other hand, we didnt ha...ve such relatively warm nights and Heatermate would turn the heater ON every night and kept it ON for longer on colder nights to maintain the set temperature of 20 degrees. The total cost so far this heating season is still under $40, so dont believe anyone who tells you that an electric heater will cost you a fortune to run. Use a reasonable set temperature on your Heatermate and it will save you money too. Enjoy the energy savings and the comfort! See more

14.01.2022 With the nights getting colder, its time to take your Heatermate out of the draw. When you start using it after a long break, please make sure that you set it to Heating (flame symbol displayed in standby, not snowflake). If not, please press and hold Up and Power buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds - the snowflake will be replaced by the flame. Your Heatermate is now set for Heating and will last you for the rest of this heating season. Enjoy the comfort!
14.01.2022 This is how the heating season ended in Sydney this year. Heatermate kept the heater OFF on some nights in the middle of the month and then for all nights at the end of the month. If you live in a colder climate keep your Heatermate connected until the cold nights are well and truly over. This way the temperature will never drop below your comfort level and on the nights when Heatermate keeps your heater OFF it wont cost you anything. Enjoy your spring and summer :-)

10.01.2022 Dear Fellow Heatermate Users, We use 5 of them in our household and I would like to share a few tips with you on their safe and trouble free use: 1. Please check that your heater has not been a subject of a product recall by the manufacturer or the Government, and if it has been - dont use it (obviously). 2. Heatermate doesnt work on its own it relies on good and stable connections with your heater plug on one hand and with your power socket on the other, so please make s...ure that your heater plug is firmly plugged into Heatermate socket and Heatermate is firmly plugged in into your power socket, at all times. 3. Electric heaters, especially the more powerful ones, can draw a lot of electrical current for extended periods of time, which puts quite a bit of thermal strain on all of the electrical connections in its path. 4. To avoid the unnecessary thermal strain on your Heatermate connections, use only as much power as it is required to heat your room, approximately 100 Watts of heater power per 1 square meter of your room. Typically, a 1000W heater is sufficient to heat most of averagely sized bedrooms. 5. If your heater has several power levels, select the one which is appropriate for the size of your room. 6. If you HAVE to use a higher power level (>1500W) then please: (i) check periodically that your heater plug does not get hot when in operation and, if it does, reduce the power level on your heater to avoid possible thermal damage to Heatermate socket (ii) check periodically the connection between the Heatermate plug and your power socket unplug Heatermate and make sure that its plug pins look clean, with no signs of darkening. If they dont - please stop using this power socket, it may need to be checked by an electrician. 7. Finally, it should be noted that, having a temperature sensor inside it, Heatermate provides thermal protection of its own: if heating up of any of its contacts does occur, it will turn the heater off before the things could get too hot to become dangerous, but it is still best to avoid this happening all together since it could cause damage to your Heatermate. If you have any questions or unsure about anything regarding your Heatermate, please contact us at [email protected] we will always be glad to help further. See more
09.01.2022 With the weather being a bit unpredictable lately we hope your Heatermate is doing a good job of keeping your bedroom/baby room temperature constant and saving you energy at the same time. Our new Heatermate with Timer model is as easy to operate as the previous model - simply plug it in, set your desired temperature and off it goes, however some of our customers find it a bit tricky to set up the Timer functions. To help with that we have prepared a Manual Supplement on Timer functions which can now be downloaded from Specifications page of our website. It contains detailed info about the Timer functions and also some typical examples of how to set them up. Still have questions - please call our technical support line, we are always glad to help.
07.01.2022 It is the misconception which heater manufacturers would like to continue forever - namely, that the heater thermostat located on the hot heater can sense and control the actual room temperature! That thermostat is not much different from the thermostat on an iron - the user can make the heater hotter or colder, but how it translates into the actual room temperature is anybodys guess. Heatermate takes the guesswork out of keeping your bedroom/baby room at a constant temperature for a simple reason - it can actually measure it, away from the hot heater!
07.01.2022 This is whats happening to the room temperature (red curve) when an oil heater is operating on its own - its just keep going up and up! This is despite a fixed setting of its thermostat (in this instance it was 60% of its full scale). The thermostat on the heater is designed to deliver a constant heat into the room, with no reference to the actual room temperature. Heatermate senses the actual room temperature away from the heater and turns the heater ON and OFF at the power point to maintain a comfortable and safe for the baby temperature (green curve). If you use an oil heater in your baby room - use it with Heatermate for your peace of mind, and save $$ on the energy too!
07.01.2022 We are proud to introduce the latest addition to the Heatermate product range Heatermate with Timer WiFi. It is essentially the same Heatermate with Timer plug-in model, but with a built-in WiFi control via your smart phone. You can now set, check and control the temperature without going into the room while enjoying the added convenience of more intuitive and simplified control via your smart phone App. Available now from our website.
06.01.2022 This is how the heating season ended in Sydney this year. It went with a bit of a bang - we had a stretch of unusually cold weather at the end of September and Heatermate had to work as hard as in the middle of winter. Overall, the total cost of running a heater controlled by Heatermate for the entire heating season was $55.29 quite a bit less than $200-$300, the typical running costs of a heater on its own. Well, now enjoy your spring and summer and if you live in a plac...e where occasional cold nights happen keep your Heatermate connected, It does not consume power on its own but wont let the room temperature drop below your comfort level if a cold night happens. Of course, if you need to control a cooling fan or an air-conditioning unit when it gets hot, simply switch your Heatermate into Cooling mode and it will keep you nice and cool during summer. 05.01.2022 Heatermate with Timer has finally arrived! Comes with a bigger display, child lock and adjustable temperature sensor. Available from our website for only $44.95, while stock last!
04.01.2022 Its this time of the year when you will need to pull your Heatermate out of the draw and start using it again. While not every night could be cold enough yet for the heating to be required, its a good idea to get your Heatermate connected just in case. If the room temperature does not drop below your comfort level the heater will be kept OFF and it will not cost you anything extra. However, on an occasional night when it does, Heatermate will turn the heater on for just en...ough to bring it back to your comfort zone. And one more tip. As we are coming out of very hot summer (in most of the places), when you start using your Heatermate this season give it an extra couple of degrees initially on top of what you would normally set it up in winter, to let your body to adjust to the "colder climate". After a while you will be able to set it to your usual winter temperature setting without a risk of catching a cold. Enjoy the comfort! See more
04.01.2022 A short follow up note on yesterdays post.as there appears to be a bit of confusion among some of our customers which I would like to clarify. Your heater typically has two control knobs: one is the HEATER THERMOSTAT, which we recommend to set to MAX so that it doesnt interfere with Heatermate room temperature control; the other knob (or switch) is your heater POWER SELECTOR - PLEASE DON"T set this knob to MAX, unless dictated by the size of your room. And if you do, please follow the periodic safety checks as described in the previous post.
04.01.2022 With the night temperatures dropping lower and lower, it is now time to take your Heatermate out of the draw. Some older models have Cooling as default setting, so when you start using your Heatermate after a long break, please make sure that it is set for Heating (flame symbol should be displaying in standby, not snowflake). If not, please press and hold Up and Power buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds - the snowflake symbol will be replaced by the flame symbol. Your Heatermate is now set for Heating and will last you for the rest of this heating season. Enjoy the comfort and the energy savings!
01.01.2022 Contrary to popular belief, an electric heater shouldnt cost a fortune to run when its properly thermostatically controlled. One can see that the daily consumption varied greatly depending on the weather and on some days (mainly in June, which was unusually warm this year) it was zero as Heaterrmate kept the heater OFF all night. The energy savings compared to heater controlled by its own thermostat (Ausgrid Winter Heating Guide - http://www.ausgrid.com.au//Energy/Ausgrid_Heating_2011.pdf) are quite significant - $233 over winter months.
