24.01.2022 How often would you say you’re coming across switchboards without safety switches installed? The NSW Government is urging homeowners to have safety switches ins...talled in their homes as part of a new campaign doubling down on electrical safety. This initiative, led by NSW Fair Trading and SafeWork NSW, aims to educate and encourage NSW homeowners to install safety switches and to undertake regular checks. Keep electrical safety and protection top of mind this season for your customers, and use this Safety Checklist on your next job. Free Safety Checklist: https://bit.ly/3n2UlbY

22.01.2022 discovered this while looking at a completely unrelated job recently. all but one fuse had been rewired with copper cable instead of fuse wire. it’s only a matter of time before this caused a fire. also on a side note the owners insurance most likely will not have paid out due to such a dangerous situation that an unqualified person has created. dont risk your life or your property and get it done right the first time an electrical fault exists. regards heath heath henry electrical

20.01.2022 i had a customer contact me this morning because they had lost power to half of their house. after some testing it was established that the problem was a faulty neutral in the safety switch. what this means is that although the customer’s power points didn’t work, they were all in fact STILL LIVE! even if you think everything is dead, always use a licensed electrician for any fault finding or repair work... stay safe, regards heath

19.01.2022 vir cable. vulcanised indian rubber cable was used extensively in homes up until the late 60s. instead of pvc plastic sheathing, the wires were insulated with a form of rubber. unfortunately with rubber, over time it becomes brittle and perished and falls apart. it has been estimated that vir cable has a safe working lifespan of only 30 years, which means that in the early 90s these cables should have been replaced. yet here i am in 2020 still removing it from older homes. le...ft in service, this wiring presents a huge safety risk as seen in these photos. as an owner of an older home, how long has it been since you have had an electrician check your installation out. stay safe, regards heath

08.01.2022 same photo, different day. another earth electrode completely rusted through. this often neglected piece of equipment is probably the most important part of your electrical installation.
