25.01.2022 Happy Australia Day everyone. Heathcote Brigade this morning took some time out and celebrated the day with a BBQ breakfast with family and friends. 24.01.2022 The 2019/20 Bushfire season has now ended. This past season saw our members from Heathcote deployed from September until February across NSW & Queensland. When the fires ended there were several storm events where we assisted the SES across Sydney. Now we, as is all the community working to contain COVID-19, therefore you will not see us around training each week but we are still attending incidents & taking precautions to protect our community & our crews. Once we are able t...o reopen our station the community will be most welcome to visit. Also a very big thanks to all who donated various items across the summer, your generousity is most appreciated. Stay Safe & Stay Home!

22.01.2022 Today we held an intimate yet social distanced ceremony to reveal the Geoffrey Keaton and Andrew O’Dwyer Memorial Playground at Telopea Park in Buxton to the fa...milies of the hero’s that lost their lives fighting to save our community. In attendance were the families of Geoff and Andrew, their Captain and crew from Horsley Park Rural Brigade, Picton CWA, Wollondilly Shire Council Representatives including Mayor Robert Khan and Councillor Matthew Deeth, Rural Fire Service Officers including Commissioner Rob Rogers, Superintendent Martin Surrey and Area Commander Simon J Davis, and of course, a team from the Buxton Rural Fire Brigade crew. Today was an incredibly special and emotional day. It was especially touching to see the children of these families enjoying the playground built in the name of their dads, uncles, sons, cousins and brothers. Thank you to all that attended and to all that made this possible in the first place. The official opening to the public will be in December where the journey of this amazing memorial will be shared

19.01.2022 On this day thirty-seven years ago, three volunteers of Heathcote Brigade tragically lost their lives as a result of a bush fire in the Royal National Park. It was Sunday 9th January 1983, just after 9am when local firefighters were alerted to a bush fire in the Royal National Park near the Princes Highway, between Loftus and Sutherland. Later in the afternoon, the fire crossed a creek below Greenhaven Road, Grays Point burning upslope towards Anana Hill.... It was at this location where the three firefighters sadly lost their lives and six other firefighters were seriously injured. The fire was contained three days later burning 337 hectares of the Royal National Park. Today marks the anniversary when three firefighters from Heathcote Brigade, Keith Campbell, Thomas Bielecke and Gregory Moon made the ultimate sacrifice protecting the Sutherland Shire. Today we remember them and are thinking of their families. We are also thinking of the injured firefighters, some of whom are still active with us today.

16.01.2022 Heathcote currently has a crew out locally assisting with storm damage.

16.01.2022 40 years ago tomorrow, five volunteers from Headquarters (Heathcote) Brigade Sutherland Shire tragically lost their lives as a result of a bush fire in the Royal National Park. It was Monday 3rd November 1980, just before dawn when local fire fighters were alerted to a bush fire near McKell Avenue, Waterfall. Later in the afternoon, the fire crossed Uloola Track heading north towards Heathcote.... It is on this track where the five firefighters tragically lost their lives around 5:00pm as the fire passed through the area, whilst sheltering at their tanker. Other crews were just 200 metres away & were unaware of the tragedy that unfolded further along the track. The fire was contained four days later near Karloo Pool just south of Heathcote. Next week marks the 40th anniversary of when these five brave firefighters from Headquarters (Heathcote) Brigade, Steve Crunkhorn, 26yo, Gregory Rolfe, 24yo, Vernon Stedman, 21yo, David Marshall, 19yo, and William Cummings, 21yo made the ultimate sacrifice protecting the Sutherland Shire. We remember these young firefighters. Our thoughts are very much with their families, friends and fellow firefighters, many who still remain active today.

16.01.2022 Crew from HEATHCOTE are currently assisting with storm damage in Waterfall and Royal National Park.

12.01.2022 Last night, Heathcote Headquarters held a ceremony to present the NSW Premier's Bushfire Emergency Citation to 38 members for their actions and service during last summer's devastating bushfire emergency. A wonderful effort from the members with crews first departing in August to Queensland. The effort continued until late January, at times crewing all 4 firefighting vehicles and our command vehicle. Also presented were 21 NSW Rural Fire Service Long Service Decorations for service totalling 476 years, a true testament to the dedication of our members. The presentations were made by Inspector Ugo Tolone, Sutherland District and Group Officer Mat Smith. Mr Frank Zumbo representing The Hon Craig Kelly Member for Hughes with Australian flags and pin. Apologies were received from Lee Evans, member for Heathcote.

12.01.2022 Our thoughts and prayers again tonight for another tragic death and injuries on the fire ground. The trucks involved were not from the Sutherland Shire. RIP. See below.
